As most know, scammers are WAY more creative than most people give them credit for, here is an example of a fake reservation sent to a TUG member who thankfully spotted the obvious...as well as other red flags sniffed out using our TUG rental verification procedures....

but for someone who doesnt take the time to verify, this would have been a very expensive mistake!

the scammer has been banned....(along with a few other usernames registered at the same time that matched)...note that his pattern followed most of the others first requesting various rental reservations in the wanted, then offering rentals to others a few weeks later.

That is pretty obvious, but for not the one big mistake it would be easy to be fooled by this.

I think a fair amount of people might not notice the mispelling of Vail. When you're reading quickly and excited about something that one letter can be easy to miss. I'm kind of wondering why they even modified that part, the rest looks like they copied a real reservation email, and Vail is spelled correctly in the resort address line.

yea it is a weird situation for sure, but its very easy especially with photoshop (and now AI) to adjust uploaded photos to make them look genuine!

this is one main reason we will no longer accept a screenshot or photo of a reservation as proof of a rental anymore in the marketplace, vs requiring the original email sent from the resort.
