3 years ago we requested being by the Serenity Pools. Their assignment system appears to treat Pool Views and Partial Ocean Views as the same. We were assigned Partial Ocean View. The Patio looked on the Grand Mayan Contruction Yard next door. If you leaned way out you could catch a sliver of Ocean. We went back to the Front Desk. It took a 4 hour wait but we finally got a Unit overlooking the Serenity Pools.

This year we were staying at the Royal Solaris next door. So we walked over a couple days ago to make sure about our Room. It was to a Delux Ocean View. The Front Desk Clerk took a Map and drew a circle around where we would be. It was prefect. The View was across the large Pool looking East so we could watch Sunrise from our Patio.

Today we checked in. They put us in a totally different location in the same Building (7). We could not see the Main Pool. We could see the Ocean but to the West. But we also had to look at a bunch of temporary structures that had old equipment and who knows what in them. Also a bunch of old mechanical equipment was stacked down below partially covered by a Blue Tarp. There was a smell. Probably caused by all the junk stacked below. I did not spend over 17,000 Credits for this view and smell.

So after much discussion working our way up the Food Chain and a long call to Headquarters they agreed to move us tomorrow. We will be in Building 6, 6th Floor. We will have a wonderful Ocean and Pool View. We will be high enough to watch Sunrise.

If this is how they treat Platinum Members what do they do to folks with little to no Status?

Thank you for the report. We are checking in next month. I sent an email with room preference but only hear crickets.

Would it make sense to call the front desk in advance?

Yes. But remember how the Organization describes a Unit may not match what the ordinary person thinks ie the partial Ocean view where you have to lean way out on the Patio to catch a sliver of the Ocean.

Also remember the Room Descriptions are very broad categories. Perhaps the only accurate Room Description is "No View."

I am hoping that with my 3 BR oceanFRONT there is NO issues with room choices. LOL

Thanks @geist1223. I will call front desk. .This will be our third time at Cabo Azul. I know what you mean by sliver of a view. One time looking at Regency over the kiddie pool and you can stretch in between buildings to see a glimpse of sand and sea.. The other was over the spa. Could hear the pool but not see it. I've seen those parking lot views on the GM side. We were still happy with the room andt went to the pools to hang out instead of balcony.

We had a very nice servet by the adult pool who took good care of us.

This time we hope it will be better view because we have a higher room type via HGV. The others were RCI trades.

Anyone know what UUU0 view is? This is the room assignment I got on a AC from interval.

I went with a DEX exchange (I own Embarc) and got what I requested when I messaged them. YMMV

Thanks for jogging my memory. I realized that instead of email, I forgot I texted them a few weeks ago ( thanks to your assistance) and they responded that they noted on our file. I will text again as the check-in date approaches. We are a DeX trade via an HGVC affiliate.

We are in our new Room. The view is absolutely gorgeous. Waiting was a wooden platter with Meat, Cheeses, Fruit, and Vegetables. Will enjoy sitting on the Lanai drinking coffee and watching the Sunrise in the morning.

What is the number to message them?

Got a last minute cancellation from a Tugger last January. It was the parking lot view. Was not too shabby. Of course, Ocean views are the best. šŸ˜„

It helps a lot if you list a specific Unit Number.
