I am planning a long weekend in June with 5 or 6 friends to celebrate our 60th Birthdays.

Which would be a better choice for us? I am a DRI owner so these are the 2 I can get
One of us has already stayed at Powhatan and liked it
TYIA

I've stayed at both. I think Powhattan is better. Greensprings is a nice setting, but the unit I stayed in last time was old and tired. Powhattan is in a better location (marginally)

At Powhatan you are closer to all the shopping centers and grocery stores.

And we are the opposite. We love Green and would not stay @ Pow, if Green was available. Pow has low ceilings and is just older feeling/layout--reminds me of 1970s apartments. Pow's indoor pool reminded me of something at a YMCA.
While Green has some outdated decor, the units are very large and pleasant, great (new) beds, large open kitchen, on a golf course. Last stay was 11/2013 (4th time @ Green). We also just stayed last week at Marriott Manor Club (about the best in Wllmbg, IMHO) and decided that we are just fine with Green vs. MMC, despite some outdated decor @ Green, b/c the layouts of the units are open, modern and the resort area is lovely. We also love Green's pool area, with a very good indoor pool/spa/sauna. Note: no elevators at Green. Make sure to request ground floor, if stairs are an issue.

Greenspring has nicer units, Powhattan has better grounds and recreational activities. I have always had some issues at Powhattan with the units, mostly minorsuch as the drawers not fitting correctly in the kitchen cabinets. I have not had those ussues at greenspring. I also like the jetted bathtubs at greenspring which are not at Powhattan. I have been to both about 4 times last year

At Manor Club, did you stay in the original section (non-lockoffs) or the newer section (lockoffs)? There is a huge difference. The newer section is very good, but it is basic Marriott timeshare quality. The original section has perhaps the best units in the entire Marriott system. I personally would put them a very close second only to Marriott's Kauai Lagoons. The original building at MMC was built to be full ownership condos with walk-in closets, wonderful kitchen, separate laundry room, etc. Some units even have an extra powder room.

We stayed in Sequel. I know the older are nicer, but what I meant was that with our family traveling to see the sights @ Wllmbg, based upon other amenities, location, pools, etc., we would be just as happy with an easy (low points) trade via RCI for Greensprings vs. a more "premium" II trade into Marriott Manor Club, using a full week as a trader.

I hate the Sequel buildings and setting, but they were renovated a couple years back and are as nice or nicer inside when compared with the Original (which are getting all new décor).

There is no comparison between Greensprings and MMC IMO. Greensprings has very low quality furniture and things are falling apart. The buildings are very poorly built also.
