One of my sons moved out of SoCal to Austin with his fiance & her family this past summer and informed us they are getting married on New Years Eve. Fortunately they let us know over a month ago where we had time to book tickets, rooms, rental car and such.

We of course offered use of any of our timeshare weeks for their honeymoon emphasizing they have to plan as far ahead as possible to book what they want. They've taken us up on that but given they are each only 6 months into new jobs out there, they can't set dates to take a vacation yet. Thus our points now are in limbo status as they get through the wedding and then can focus on honeymoon dates.

Any ideas for a tactful way of moving them along so we can book something for them, as well as get on with our plans?

My thoughts:
1. Ask them to look at a calendar and come up with a few dates that work
within a reservation window starting 1/1/11, and to rank their preferences;
2. Also give them a few typical destination choices that are likely to work,
and to rank those in order of preference.
3. Check on what's available, and ask 'em let to make a selection by 12/31.
... and oh yeah, congrats on un-loading a rug-rat.

They are probably concerned about asking for time off so soon in a job. But as both my DH and I found out, most employers are fairly accomodating for that time. I would mention that, and also let them know that the less time provided the fewer the options that will be available.
