Do you have to cross a busy street to get to the beach at this timeshare? I just read some reviews that indicated that was an issue. Any information about this place would be welcomed. Thanks in advance

Let me look at a map. We haven't stayed at that particular resort, but I know Ocean City fairly well.

I looked at the map. Yes, you definitely have to cross a busy street, Philadelphia Avenue, to get to the beach. There are lots of traffic lights and crosswalks to get there, though. It looks like there is a crosswalk at about 23rd Street, so you can cross safely there. Then you have to cross Baltimore Avenue, which I remember as somewhat less busy--although you still need to be careful, of course. And when you get to the beach, the boardwalk is right there--it goes up to about 30th Street and down all the way to the bottom of the island.

Pointe on the Bay is, as the name says, on the bay side. There are no beaches on that side--it's all marinas and boats. Very pretty views.

Thank you for that information - I really appreciate you going to that trouble to help. It's just what I needed to know.

Pointe on the Bay is the only RCI Silver Crown resort in OC I have seen. I am surprised it is not written about more on TUG. I looked at the outside of it on an OC timeshare scouting trip I made back in April (stayed in Ocean High). Pointe on the bay is on the list of places there I would be willing to try. I like that they have 3 BR units .... I am sure beach season booking can be challenging.

I rarely see trades available even in the shoulder season. It does look nice.

If you look at a map of Ocean City, you'll see there's a big street, the Coastal Highway, that goes all the way up and down the island (it splits at about 30th Street). Anything west of the Coastal Highway is on the bay side and you will need to cross the highway to get to the beach--there are no beaches on the bay side. Anything east of the Coastal Highway is on the same side as the beach. If you close in on the map in Google Maps, you can see where the traffic lights are. (It's considered desirable for any stay to be near a traffic light.)

The Coastal Highway is called a highway, and there are several lanes of traffic, and it's a big busy road, but it's not a highway the way we in NJ think of highways! The speed limit is about 40, or 35 in some places.

Hope that helps!

In the summer you probably will have a group of people crossing with you. If you are slow or start late you may only get half way but there is a little island to stand on while you wait for the light to change again.

While crossing that highway can be like playing Frogger sometimes, the walk signs are pretty long and consistently timed up and down the road. TONS of people do the same thing, often dragging beach chairs, coolers, and children with them. :)

We were in Ocean City this past week. We went past Pointe on the Bay. It is well over on the bay side. We were intending to go right up to the building to check it out, but we missed the turn! Are you going to stay there?

I noticed a little red jitney that seemed to be coming from the Aloft hotel on that side--it looked like it might be a beach shuttle provided by the hotel.

We have stayed at Pointe on the Bay twice! It is a very nice exchange! It sits RIGHT on the bay. We usually drive down closer to the end of the boardwalk and park on the street somewhere and then go to the boardwalk/beach. We have been there in Sept/Oct both times. Crossing the street is possible when you are in that pre/post season but I bet it would be much harder during the summertime. The units themselves are nice. We had a 3 bedroom each time. We enjoy the sunsets on the bay and if you are in a room without a building directly in front of your unit, you can also see the sunrise pretty well.
It can be a little hard to turn into. It shares an entrance road with a mini golf course, and a buffet but there is a private parking lot. Once you know where it is, you'll be fine! There is no beach shuttle to my knowledge but then again, we were there sort of off season.

Thanks for the info! We like Ocean City in the shoulder season, too. We usually go in April--next year we're going in April/May.
