I am looking at the Shawnee Village timeshares. Want to have a few steps as possible; that I think is Depuy, Fairway and Ridgetop. Which one would have the most recent updates, although it appears that none have really been renovated. Crestview is reported as nice, but there is NOTHING available through RCI. We are weeks owners.....is it a points place only? I am taking an elderly friend with me who does stairs well, but no reason to stretch the issue. She has never been to the Poconos; both of us read planning books back in the 60's that that was the place to go!!!!

I checked with Tanglewood at Hawley and all they have are upstairs bedrooms with a SPIRAL stairway. They are dangerous IMO.

Are there any timeshares in the Poconos that have bedrooms on the main level that are decent?

Another ideas for the Poconos?

We like the 3brs at Exploria Poconos in East Stroudsburg. They are very, very large and I think most units have downstairs bedrooms. The units are rundown now, but comfortable, and the location is good. Unfortunately the 3brs are seldom available for exchange. I'm not sure what the 2brs are like--reviews are mixed. You could call the resort and ask about the layout of the 2brs and if you can get a renovated unit.

We haven't been to Shawnee in ages, but Ridgetop is the newest section of the three you mention. You could call them and ask about configuration too. We stayed there in about...oh, maybe 2005? I can't remember if there was a main floor bedroom.

Thank you.I have been looking for that; is it affiliated with RCI? Neither of them list 3BR anytime.

Sorry for the big print. just did a cut and paste

I did find it on the Exploria website, but not by the name you mentioned

Right, there are very few 3brs and they rarely get put in for exchanges.

The Ridgetop units (or at least the one I stayed in) have bedrooms upstairs. In addition, the only full baths are upstairs. There is a very small powder room on the main level.

If you can find a unit in Ridge Top Summit - it has a full bathroom on the lower level with a shower stall only - but still no bedrooms - all of the bedrooms are upstairs in all Ridge Top units IME (and we've stayed in many RT units over the years). The Crestview accessible units are the best option for anyone with mobility issues IMHO - they are single level and the accessible units don't have many stairs to the units themselves (some don't have any stairs outside to get to the unit - just depends on the unit in question). IDK if there are any accessible units for the older areas like Ridge Top, Fairway, Depuy, and River Villages.

I just don't know if it's worth going to the Poconos places... The reviews are kind of scary, and make me think a little too much of Villa Roma - which isn't a good thing.

The Wyndham built Crestview units at Wyndham Shawnee are good units - all of the other units in the older sections are hit and miss at best. Even the older "renovated" units still leave a lot to be desired when compared to what many folks are used to quality-wise IME. We are fine staying in a few of the older units because we know what we're getting and they are lower on points costs within the Wyndham system.

You definitely need to go to the Poconos with modest expectations. It's sad, bc we love to go there--very relaxing and easy to get to.

Wait! I just remembered Suites at Hershey. They're not really so much the Poconos, but they are quite nice and all on one level.

Yes, we go for the same reasons - lots of outdoor activities all year round - and good eats if you know where to find them.
