Plantation House at South Seas Island Resort - Captiva Island

HGVC Flamingo and Karen Avenue
Does anyone have any current information on this resort? We just reserved a week in November through HGVC, and now after reading some reviews on on the various threads (not TUG) I'm a bit uncertain. We usually stay at Seawatch on Ft. Myers Beach, but thought this would be a nice change. Comments?? I'm hearing they have a problem with cleanliness and it's old and tired.
 
I have stayed at South Seas Island resort in the Harbourview villas - which was amazing. I think Plantation house is next to the main pool overlooking the bay - should be a great location. The resort itself is great. I think you will love it.

I did a lot of research on SSI before going and there are a lot of bad reviews - but i think they are not the HGVC affilates but some of the villas rented out by the resort itself. It is hard to separate the reviews. I think some HGVC affiliates may be better than others but i think Plantation House may be one of the best ones. One thing to find out is if the resort fees are INCLUDED in the MFs for that resort - it varies. If they are included in the MF for Plantation House then you have them by default. They can be quite expensive.

Hard to go wrong with Hawaii - but i think you gave up a great trade. Captiva is the second best place we have been (Maui was #1).

But we also hope to get to the big island one day - we have not been yet.
