Plantation Beach Club is a property that existed before HGVC was around. The Florida affiliates were part of the Mariner group that was brought on to facilitate the creation of HGVC. When HGVC became established, they absorbed the Mariner group and gave the owners at the Flamingo (the first true HGVC resort) a place to use their points. Since it has dedicated units as well as weeks (and some floats too), it works differently. It’s also a voluntary property where the owners can elect not to be part of the HGVC program. They have some autonomy as most of those resorts have their own sales office that sell the weeks for the HOA and owners alike.

Fast forward to now. When they introduced Max, they made some changes to the program, one of those being that the Florida affiliates do not count toward the Max tier level. There are other restrictions as well but the points associated can still be used in the HGVC system.
