Will be staying at Plantation Beach Club , Stuart Florida later this month and looking for favorite things to do and places to eat in Stuart, Port Salerno, Hutchinson Island areas. I’ve already booked a 4hr. Intercoastal cruise. This resort is part of HGVC all units face the water. We likes beaches, parks or bicycles paths that are not on the street, casual dining and sight seeing.

Thank you in advance you always provide great advice, this is a part of Florida I have not stayed at or explored. We are baby boomers.

We stayed there many years ago. The one bedroom unit was lovely, with a beautiful view, and a nice screened in balcony. I think we were there thanksgiving week, and none of the activities were going on. I remember going south along the beach road to a historic place called Gilbert’s bar house of refuge. We went to some other state parks too. I don’t remember the beach there being very nice compared to the beaches on Sanibel and fort Myers.

I remember the drive to Stuart across the state of Florida.
we ate at the Seminole Inn in Indiantown which was good
we saw more poverty on that drive than I have seen in my life and I grew up on the far south side of Chicago before expressways and used to drive to downtown Chicago on Michigan avenue or State street right past skid row and what were called “the projects”.

Hutchinson Island is certainly what is to be considered "old Florida". Don't expect anything flashy. We stayed at Vistana Beach Club a couple years ago. Consider a visit to downtown Jensen Beach. There are also some nice beach parks along the coast on Hutchinson Island. I can't recommend any specific restaurants, but there are several along the Intracoastal that have seating with water views.

We are going for the first time to Vistana in December. Let us know how Stuart is to visit?

We own a TS there (given to us free), but only stayed once.
It's a small, quiet place, with a nice pool and easy beach access.
IIRC, the units were a decent size and comfortable.

It's a nice drive South along the coast to Bathtub Reef Beach.
The huge Marriott Resort nearby has most of the area activities.
There's a Publix to the North at "Seabreeze Shoppes."

oops

Thanks everyone, will let you know. Apparently House of Refuge is temporarily closed or I would have gone. Wanted to try Bathtub beach read about it in a magazine last year. vacatioNed on both sides of the state and live on the gulf side from the Stuart area photos it looks like this area has a course sand composition as long as the water is nice and warm I’m happy. Good to know about the Publix supermarkets in the area. We have a two bedroom unit.

Very sad to hear and good to know, thanks for sharing. At least once a week I’m reminded of being able to live in a sunny State with food in the frig and a place to call home.

best route seems to be rt 70 from gulf coast to Stuart

I just remember stopping in indiantown on the way back. I remember being curious to climb up and see lake okeechobeebut we didn’t do it

PBC review:the resort is right after 2nd bridge on A1A turn into Indian Plantation and veer left off main road. You can use gym ,tennis at Marriott with a guest pass. The resort has fantastic views and is undergoing a soft refurbishment. I met a few owners who loved it here. It was built 1984, has 30 units and is managed by HGVC. Pam-at the resort is very helpful. We we’re on the 3rd floor which is townhouse style ,master ,living room, kitchen upper level, twin beds ,2nd bath and stackable washer/dryer lower level. 4th floor are all 1 bedrooms . Other levels have different configurations some have all bedrooms on one of the levels. Water and pool temps 85ish, loved it. Beach is right there but beware the sand is super hot even with flip flops.
If one has mobility issues it might be a bit tough to access Beach there is no ramp PBC beach access there are two sets of short steps then a long walkway and steps down to the beach. There could be at Marriott Sandcastle three doors down.
Fresh Market in Stuart on A1A not far from bridge and a meticulous Publix right down the street from the resort across from Stuart Beach. At Stuart beach we had lunch at the Sea Shack beachside cost $38 about $16 for a sandwich. Elliot car museum is nearby we did not go. Famous Bathtub beach is down the road from the resort.
We did take a 4.5 hour narrated cruise includes nice lunch on Island Princess to Jupiter from Stuart 8 miles from the resort really worth it. On the way on St Lucie Drive at the first bridge there is an amazing tunnel canopy of banyan trees on the way to Sandspirt Park/ fantastic view. Historic Stuart has a Sunday farmer’s market ,shops and places to eat and a boardwalk.
Suprisingly around the resort Hutchinson Island there were not a lot of places to eat you have to head north on A1A or cross the bridges to Stuart which is not far within 5-8 miles. Sewell bridge there is a small street in Jensen Beach after Ocean Breeze with Mulligans and a few restaurants and a Benihana on the Sewell bridge.

Vistana is further North on A1A. drove by did not stop in.

Really enjoyed staying here could not ask for a better view or ocean temps.

Does anyone have any information on room locations? I have a one bedroom booked and understand they are on the fourth floor. I was told I would have unit 410 and wanted to know the location of that unit. Thank you for any assistance.

Its a small resort in a single rectangular-shaped building (N-S). Units are side by side with entry off an island-side, single, straight line, open-air walkway. IDK where x10 is on the walkway, but the building is compact, so none are far from the elevator in the middle. BTW, 4th floor units have a decent ocean view off the balcony.

I am former owner there. Room 410 is a corner unit on the 4th floor. Exceptional views from a corner unit, forward looking to the Atlantic and also views to the south due to the fact that there is no unit beside you on the south side.
