Pink SPace ( what RCI has more supply then demand of)

I have noticed that some of you are very interested in knowing what areas RCI has more supply then demand in, what areas trade the worst, etc.

I am going to first state that "pink" or "junk" weeks are weeks that simply don't trade well. It has nothing to do with resort quality, unit size, etc. "Pink" means that they often are listed as "red" by RCI but are not truely high demands destinations and/ or times of year. In fact, they are often in so low demand that people that don't even own a timeshare can rent them from RCI for less than what the owners paid in Maintainence Fees.

The following areas are always pink, regardless of time of year. They will be closer to red during the summer, as well as any holiday that would extend the weekend and/or give children a break from school.
-Inland TX
-Branson MO
-Hot Springs/Little Rock
-almost everything in NINT (RCI Region code for "Northern Interior", EXCLUDING 1 resort in Hershey, PA)
-Massanowhere, VA (Massanutten)
-Inland FL (excluding Orlando)
-Weston FL (Vacation Villages)
-Canary Islands
-Italian Alps
-French Alps

From mid september- christmas, excluding any holiday that would extend the weekend and/or give children a break from school.
-Mexico (mostly CANC/PVTA/CNON, etc, not so much for MAZT ACIX etc)
-Orlando area
-Colorado
-Tahoe
-FLSE (excluding certain areas/resorts; RCI Region code for "Florida Southeast Coast")
-lots of random undesirable stuff in FLRI (region code that will always pull space; encompasses all of florida)
-certain GRLK areas
-Domican Republic/ St Martin
-Scottsdale/Pheonix
-Palm Springs
-TXCO

January and Febuary (Presidents Week possibly excluded)
-East Coast resorts, basically everything from florida up, excluding anything near skiing)
-GRLK (Great Lakes area)
-TXCO

March/May
nothing comes to mind that isn't included in the always pink list

June-August
Are you kidding?
Seriously though,
Colorado
Phoenix/Scottsdale
Orlando area
Palm Springs area
will trade poorly, may be available on bonus time, but will almost always get booked up eventually.

Great info, Thanks

What is NINT? Is it PA, NY and New England? Or do you mean ND, SD, and states in the northen middle of the country?

Very useful information. Thanks.

It largely tracks with what another (now former?) RCI employee who posted under the name Bootleg has told us from his experience with a few minor differences.

You have added the European perspective, which he generally did not. That is a helpful addition. What about the Costa Del Sol and Hungary? Isn't there almost always an oversupply there?

He always had Williamsburg on his list of places where there was always an oversupply. What is your take on that? He also had Orlando yearround, and you have it all except winter/spring. Your take on Orlando generally corresponds with the Availibility table in the European version of the RCI Directory.

You have also added the places where there is seasonal oversupply and set out the seasons, something he alluded to in specific circumstances but never set out in a list. Again, very useful. And as far as I can see, it is consistent with the places where he had made a comment.

I find it hard to believe that French and Italian alps are not absolutely scarlet red in the ski season! I've never managed to pull anything decent in February. Interesting though....

You know your post just jogged something in my memory. When that availability often came up was actually searching for summer space, although I also recall it coming up when doing expanded searches trying to find members anything in Europe as far as a ski vacation.
For many gold and silver crown owners a lot of those resorts are VEP down:(

Costa Del Sol and Hungary yes a lot of availability- a lot of it VEP down.

Williamsburg VA yes- I should have clarified that inland Virginia is part of "northern interior" in RCIs region code system.

Any info on Vegas?

Always red- even in the summer it gets booked up. Cliffs at Peace Canyon has weaker trading power because of its distance from the strip. Celebraty Resort/ Liesure Resort I remember getting lots of member complaints, but it also seems many will forgive a lot for location. Carriage House weeks seemed to trade well.

Candid, thanks very much for the reply -- sorry I didn't see it and thank you earlier.

Coastal Texas is very popular in summer, isn't it? I assume that's because it's swimming weather. Is it also popular during sometime in spring for Spring Break?
