We did a go around about 50 feet from the runway in the Bahamas during Dorian. It was nerve wracking! When we went around and landed what a relief.

The "Masterful" Landing of an Etihad Airbus A380 in 50mph Crosswinds is Heavily Criticised by the Airlines Own Training Department.

A 50mph crosswind is considered unsafe for both takeoff and landing. Rather than being touted as an amazing pilot, he should be reprimanded for putting so many passengers in danager.

Glad to see the pilot is being taken to task; by his own training department no less. I have been in aircraft trying to land in less-than-ideal conditions and it is not a lot of fun to say the least. I saw nothing "masterful" about his landing when I watched the original video clip. What I saw was a pilot taking an unnecessary risk to land the plane in dangerous conditions rather than aborting the landing and going around. While he did manage to get the plane down "safely", he was essentially out of control on the ground and ultimately ran the plane off the runway. Hardly "masterful"!

Our experience last July, returning from Aruba is an example of taking proper precautions by A cabin crew.

As we were landing at JFK during a terrible storm (I don’t know exactly how strong the winds were) the pilots aborted the landing when we were literally less than 25 feet off the runway. Passengers sitting near the cockpit could hear the wind shear warning going off when the pilots pulled out of the landing and went back up (as we could also all hear and feel the roar of the engines thrusting).

We circled for several minutes while they attempted to make another landing. When that proved to be too dangerous and fuel was becoming an issue we were diverted to Boston and landed safely at Logan about 35 minutes later.

Although inconvenient and a hassle I did not blame JetBlue or the pilots at all for being cautious.

Not a fun experience but it beats the possible alternative.
