Anyone cares to recommend a good place to stay? Group involves Wife, 16 year old, 12 old, and me.

Ideally, we would like to stay in a Marriott, Hilton, or Starwood property. But, we can stay at a different place in case there is a better location.

I second Marriott Phuket Beach Club. All units are 2 bedrooms. It is located on the same property as the JW Phuket. Since you have kids 2 of the three pools will be available to you. 1 is an adult pool. The resort is ocean front. Marriott also has another timeshare not far away but not oceanfront. II sells getaways to these resorts as well for less than their maintenance fees last I saw approximately $800 a week. If you have Marriott preference the trade should be easy. I was able to trade in 11 months in advance, a first for us.
Really nice resort, daily housekeeping, and very attentive staff. The location is quiet, not near the main tourist area which is a plus in my book unless your 20 something looking to party or a 60 plus single male looking for something else. ( although you will see the later at the JW too ).

Several years ago we stayed at the Le Meridien. It was a nice resort with a great beach and pool.

I'm pleased that I've snagged an exchange to Phuket Beach Club. If I had not been able to get that timeshare week, I might have considered a Phuket hotel. There is a long discussion thread on FlyerTalk on the Marriott hotels in Phuket:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marriott-rewards/1255927-marriott-family-hotels-phuket-thailand.html

I have read chunks of that thread, and came away with the impression that the Renaissance Phuket might be a good choice.

You should also find information in the Starwood Forum on FlyerTalk. If you don't know how to use FlyerTalk, navigate to the discussion forum of interest and then you will find a "Search this Forum" dropdown on the upper right side. Put in the search term you desire, such as "Phuket."

Thanks. Anyone thinks the Hilton is worth it?
