Hello! I received a call today from a gentlemen named Joseph at (678) 439-0137 claiming to be with RCI. He mentioned he sees unused time at my timeshare property and asked if I would like to exchange it with RCI and get compensated for it.

I of course declined, but I am curious what the angle here is. Clearly he is aware I own at a specific timeshare and who I am/how to reach me. I am assuming he doesn’t have account details but who knows…

Has anybody had a similar call and gone down the rabbit hole to find out what it is for?

100% SCAM. This is a well-known scam that has been around for many years. Scammers prey on greed.
Thanks. I assumed. I don’t use RCI and the phone number had caller of a bank serviced by one of the burner phone sort of VOIP providers. It isn’t that hard to figure out though. A deeded timeshare has a specific parcel number and anybody can find phone numbers this day and age.

@smbatt As Vacationforever posted, this is a scam. It has been around for years, many using the same lying script about your unused weeks. In many cases, I have found that the company is actually an advertising/listing company that wants an upfront fee. As you can guess just from the lies on the phone these companies are unethical, and in some cases outright criminal scams, and provide little to no advertising services for the money paid. These services aren’t worth $1 let alone the hundreds or even thousands they charge.

Here is a thread about a similar company using the same scam.

Got a call from the same number. Seems the scammer has kept the same number for a while. Anyone actually got scammed. Maybe there is a way to trace the number of there is a crime?

Nope, don't waste your time. VOIP line paid with untraceable funds.
