I was notified that my CPAP machine is being recalled. I called the phone number that was in the letter I received and was told that someone from Phillips would be calling me, but the rep had no idea when. My pulmonologist said that there is a backlog in replacing the machines. Phillips advised me NOT to use the CPAP while waiting. I really need it.
If anyone else's machine is part of the recall - how long did you have to wait for a replacement? TIA, Jacki

I'm still waiting (since May). Because of so many machines out there (plus Covid issues) I don't anticipate you will receive a replacement until 2022 or 2023. I actually worry as to whether Phillips will be able to remain in business because of it.

My Doctor told me I can still continue to use it (as the benefits outweigh the risk), but she did say NOT to use the So Clean cleaning machine. Some folks think the So Clean machine "could" be making the issue far worse, but I guess there are all sorts of opinions out there.

I haven't been using the So Clean, but I have been washing the hose, headpiece, and nose piece by hand every day in the kitchen sink. What a pain in the ass!

1. Sound abatement foam may degrade into particles which may enter the device’s air pathway and be ingested or inhaled by the user, and
2. the sound abatement foam may off-gas certain chemicals.

The foam degradation may be exacerbated by use of unapproved cleaning methods, such as ozone sanitizing equipment, and certain environmental conditions involving high humidity and temperature.

There could be a link to cancer. I do not know the specifics or the rate, or the correlation.

What is the issue that is causing the recall?
My understanding is there are some seals that degenerate over time and the stuff 'may' be carcinogenic. I would be working with my supplier on getting a different CPAP machine.

My daughter got an email this morning saying a new one had been shipped to her. It was the first communication she had received about it. We recently moved and the device was shipped to our old address. A couple hours later, she received a notification it had been delivered, to our old address, 600 miles away. Nothing like timely communications. We were able to contact the people who bought our old house and get it shipped to us, so I guess all is well that ends well. But, I wonder how many people are in a similar situation. An awful lot of people have moved in the past couple of years!
