Yes, the song was about the loss of innocence, and a 14 year old girl lost hers in his hotel room, for which he was convicted.

So many popular singers and actors were either pedophiles, ultra-sexist, or rapists from the 1920s - 1980s. Is it right? No. Many of them were convicted, sentenced, and served their time. And most of them turned their lives around. He did just that, continued on with PP&M for the next few decades.

In the PP&M video I shared above, right before getting into the lyrics, he said the song is about a loss of innocence, not drug use.

I had no idea about the scandal for Peter, but I did like Peter Paul and Mary as a kid in the 80s and 90s, my mom would play their records... I don't think Puff was my favorite song though, I preferred blowin in the wind I think, and This Land is Your Land.

Yes, we went to see this movie last weekend and enjoyed it! It's based on his life and is not an exact documentary, but it's worth seeing. I learned a lot of things about his early career.

Yep. Saw it last weekend. Loved it. I'd forgotten how prolific he was/is. Peter Yarrow (not the real one but an actor playing him) had a small part in the movie.
