If you PayPal to accept payments, the new policy update includes some fee increases. I just glanced at it but it looks like increased transaction fees if the buyer is outside the US, more restrictions on buyer and seller protection, and a $20 fee even if the seller wins a payment dispute. There is also an increase in the overage percentage that is charged for currency conversions.

Also, Friends and Family has been eliminated. I never asked for renters to pay me using Friends and Family but didn't object if they did.

I know there are alternatives out there but don't know which ones are best.

Can you provide a link to where you are referring to? When I go to the Paypal fees I see the same pricing as previously. This is where I am going: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/paypal-fees

I'm not seeing where friends and family is eliminated. In fact it reiterates that purchase protection does not apply to friends and family so it definitely looks like the option will remain.

You are correct.

I think the Canadian to US dollar isn't particularly strong and with the fees increasing for international transactions, it will make transactions between Canadians and US even less desirable. I generally take into account the paypal fee when I am pricing my rentals but already charged an extra 1% for Canadian renters and may have to increase that. I have had a few renters that have a US bank and PO box that they attached to their Paypal account to avoid such fees.
