Hello all,
Is it possible to pay for Ritz Carlton ruises using MVC points? If so, what is the cost in points for a couple for a 7 night cruise?

Thanks,
Tom

If you're fine with a value of $500 per 90,000 points, then it appears you can!

  • Redeem an initial 180,000 points toward a $1,000 savings on your cruise fare, and increments of 90,000 points toward a $500 savings thereafter

For buying points there is currently a 40% bonus promo for purchases of 40,000+ points. So buying 91,000 points (65,000 + 26,000) would cost you about $812. I'd rather buy 90,000 points for $800 than sell 90,000 for $500... I can get more value than $800 out of 90,000 points.

That appears to be Bonvoy points....OP was asking about Abound Points, I believe.

Thanks - I somehow missed that...

I doubt it's possible with Abound points, but if it was it would probably be just as lousy of a deal!

I'm no expert on MVC Points and Ritz-Carlton Yacht cruises is a pretty new entity, but every time I've looked into using ANY brand of points to pay for ANY cruise, the ONLY way I've seen it pencil out is booking multiple cabins on the same reservation. Any time I've looked at using timeshare points for anything except timeshare stays, the choices are few and the cost is high.

Perhaps the OP could do some research and ask a MVC travel advisor to put a price on a cruise vacay and then find out what Ritz-Carlton charges for a similar cruise.

Here's one of their ships. Vacationstogo doesn't offer discounts from rack rates of roughly $1000pp/pd to about $$3,000pp/pd. They had some repositioning cruises and TransAtlantics for significantly less.

If you are feeling forced to 'use the points or lose them', you have too many points.

I don't even see Ritz Carlton Cruises as an option to select in the crise portal.
