I was there for 2 nights earlier this week and it cost $55 as a legacy owner (but not a Sunset Harbor owner). I was a bit surprised as my visit years ago was much much less. I understand everything is going up quicky, and especially in KW.

It appears that the regular rate for that garage is $40 a day so it beat that. Just wonder if anyone else has had that experience lately parking at SH.

Not driving in Old Town is the winning move.

There's no place to park and it's quicker to walk. I lived there for more than 20 years and never owned a car. On the rare occasion I needed to drive it cost less in the short and long run to simply rent a car. Enterprise STILL picks you up. I just did that a couple months ago.

Scoop - we enjoyed the drive down from and back to FLL in a convertible. We stayed in other parts of the Keys also, so KW was just part of the plan. We weren't living in KW, just visiting. And we did walk a lot.

I just thought HRC owners got a better deal than that. Maybe a week is less per day.

There are a limited number of parking passes for week owners. Its about 35.00 for the week. By the time you checked in I would guess all the parking passes had been assigned, reverting to a preferred rate.

If it were my trip, I'd drop the car off in Key West and then pick another one up on the way out. Then again, I've also driven US-1 so many times I don't care if I never drive it again. I had a neighbor who took monthly runs up to WalMart. She paid for gas if I drove -- that way she could smoke dope the entire trip. Things were so much much less expensive in Homestead that it made sense to take that awful bargain.

There are multiple parking rates for SH. There's the SH owners rate, there's the HRC owner's rate and there's the II rate. There's also the car parking rate and the scooter rate. And don't forget the daily rate vs the weekly rate.

The BOD has adjusted the various rates over the past few years so that the annual rental rate ($80K+) of the parking deck owner (Opal) is covered by people actually utilizing the parking deck cover the cost of the annual rent. IE: Why should every SH owner pay a parking deck fee in their annual MF if they never use the parking deck.
