We are planning a girls weekend at NCV using the MOD rate next weekend. I am told however, we will only get 3 parking passes. Proble is that due to work schedules, we will most likely have to bring 4 cars (two cars of two each and two cars with single occupants due to the different locations everyone lives). Does anyone have any suggestions on if we are going to have a major issue with the extra car (Marriott pre-arrival was no help... said 'best to just carpool' which we are already doing to the fullest extent possible)? Are there any places nearby that we can park the extra car (would not even mind paying for the extra parking at NCV, but that does not seem to be available)? Anyone else have to deal with the issue of an extra car at NCV?

Thanks!

Maybe call & speak with someone higher up if you can't be helped initially? I can't believe next weekend is a sell-out weekend so I think they ought to accommodate you somehow.

When you check in at Newport Coast Villas, you get one "G" parking pass for the Villa and up to two "V" parking passes for the Garage.

I know that sounds backwards, but "G" means Guest and "V" means Visitor.

The "G" parking pass can be used anywhere at the resort. The "V" parking pass can only be used at the indoor garage in the vicinity of the check-in lobby. Parking near your villa can be difficult, especially later at night.

I hope it's possible to make special arrangements to get a third "V" parking pass under your circumstances, but I have no experience with this.

I do know that parking is limited at Newport Coast Villas. Later in the evening, I've had to park far away from our villa.

As I recall, a couple miles further up the hill from the resort is a grocery store and strip mall that you could likely park a car if you had to.

Are you saying that you will have 6 adults? The units are rated for 8 but that is 1 king, 1 queen and 2 sleeper sofas. I would imagine that two couples and four kids on the sofas would be how they got to 8. BUT I would not want to stay there with 5 other adults.

That said you'll get a pass to park in front of the villa and more to park in the garage. I wouldn't worry about having 4 cars this time of year.

There will be 6 adults, but since this is sort of a reunion of a group of us girls that used to go camping at a lake each summer, taking the boats and RV's on our own and leaving the Men at home, I think we can cope in a two bedroom condo for a couple of days . Maybe I can find a nice tugger who will also be there next weekend, but who will not be needing all their passes who would be willing to share an extra .

My thought was along the lines of OPs last comment. Hang out in the lobby and 'meet' someone who doesn't need extra parking passes. We usually need only the one 'G' pass.

I will set the ladies who are checking in first on a task to "loiter" in the lobby for a while and see if they can meet some nice people who do not need all of their parking passes! I am sure we can find someone (would even be willing to "trade" our G for two V's as we do not necessarily have to park close to the condo once we drop everything off :D).

Half the time we forget to put the parking pass on the dash and we have never had an issue at several resorts including Newport Coast.

I would not park in a mall lot unless you want to pick up your car at a tow yard.

I have seen cars stickered at this property overnight for not having the pass in the window.

They will sticker and potentially tow your car from the primary parking lot for each villa if you don't have the appropriate pass. I had to trade out a rental car and forgot to transfer my pass to the new car. I had a big red sticker on my driver side window the next morning. It was very difficult to remove this sticker.

Has anyone seen this when parking in the Parking structure vs. by the Villas? I can see why they patrol by the villas as that parking is very limited, but what about the garage which is where we would plan on parking. We plan to try and find a kind guest that does not need all of their passes when we check in (assuming NCV will not just extend us an extra one), but just in case we can't (since we check-in on a Thursday, there may not be a lot of check-ins that day) this is good information to know.

Thanks!

Forgot one time

Hi
I forgot the card one time and got the big sticker on the window. Had to call security to remove it. They have a bottle of remover at the ready. Don't know about the notices in the garage, we always stress to our guests to put the pass card on the dash.

Newport Coast Villas has "just enough" parking for each building throughout the resort. It only takes a few people per building who park without a valid "G" (guest) parking permit to rob other guests of the ability to park anywhere near their villas. That's why Security has to take parking violations seriously.

Twice during a recent stay I was out late. Both times there was no parking at my building or at any of the buildings near it. Both times I walked by a number of cars with no parking permits or with "V" (visitor garage) permits parked in spots that required "G" (guest) parking permits.

Every car in the garage is supposed to have a parking permit ("V" or "G"). Security could deal with violations just as they do at the villa buildings, especially overnight, but I don't know if they really do.

One more thing to be aware of...

Every parking permit has a code on it. Security can match that code with a villa number. If a car with a "V" permit is parked at one of the villas buildings, Security can call that villa to move the car, even if it's 2 o'clock in the morning. For that reason, I would personally be very reluctant to give a "V" permit to a stranger.

For the OP, the best solution is probably to request one additional "V" permit from the resort, acknowledging that this is an exception based on unusual but legitimate circumstances.

Thanks for all the suggestions and tips!

I was there recently and parking was difficult around the villas. Make sure you only park the 1 car with the G pass by the villa, as there are only enough spots for the G passes they hand out if the villas are all occupied. On several occasions I ended up having to drive to another area of the resort or use the garage because multiple cars in my villa lot had V passes. They all had warning/violation stickers on them in the morning.

I don't think the garage is policed as strictly for the permits, so you might be able to get away with having a car in there without one if you can't get an extra. Just make sure they only park in the areas that allow V permits.

another option

Hi
Another option, depending on the time everyone arrives, is park one car at SNA Long Term Parking. It is very nearby if one is willing to pay for parking. Just trying to think of alternatives. It is a great place for get together if you can manage the vehicles. Or perhaps you can get one more villa!
