We are going to Park City for a week of skiing first week of April. We are taking our 2.5 year old son with us. Any suggestions of what we can take him to do? He is too young for ski school (next year he will definitely be on the slope! Can't wait.)
Also, anybody know if the skiing condition 1st week of April is still decent?
Thanks!

It's been 16 years since I took a 2.5 year old to Park City, but it was a big enough town even then to place him part time in a day nursery program near the mountain...can't remember the name but I think we found it in the yellow pages and went to check it out. Also, the mountain info services should have leads.

We also went with a group of parents and bought one 6-day adult pass for each couple. One spouse would ski mornings with one group, while the others watched/played with the kids, and then we'd switch off.

Bottom line is it ain't like being single or childless. My wife keeps telling me it's worth it, and I'm planning next year's trip for just her and me while the baby is in college. :)

Lots for kids to do

The snow is always terriffic in early April. The very bottom will be soft, but there are 8 mountains and 3500 skiiable acres at Canyons.

Ride the Flight of the Canyons Gondola to Red Pine and have lunch at Red Pine.

Look at the calendar of local events for kids at www.parkcityinfo.com

Also look at www.thecanyons.com for their events calendar.

The Annual Pond Skimming contest is in April. Check the Canyons calendar for dates. Costumes, fun at Canyons.

Live entertainment in the afternoons on the Canyons Village Plaza.

Snow tubing hills. There are 2 different parks close to town.

If you have a car, there is an ice cream shop (I believe in Heber), where a model train goes around on a suspended track below the ceiling.

Drive over to Sundance where the streams and waterfalls running throughout the complex are upclose and personal. In April they should be full and running fast and noisy. Fun! Stop in to their cafe and picnic on the porch.

Walking on Main Street. Lots of visual interest at children's ( and adult's) eye level.

Watch free style aerialists practice at the Utah Olympic Park. You stand on the deck and the aerialists fly off the ramps toward you before hitting the splash pool.

Keep track as you travel about town of the different painted Moose sculptures. Each is unique and amusing with its own "personality".

The Park City ( Near Main Street) and Summit County( in Kimball Junction on HWY 224) libraries have nice children's reading rooms and activities. They also show children's movies.

Watch candy making in Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.
