Here right now
We did a last minute exchange into Palm Beach Shores Resort for the President's Day week- we are at the resort right now. This is the second time we have stayed here. We have two boys, age 11 and 8, and although the units are smaller than many we have stayed at, there is no problem with the four of us being in the 1 bdrm. The kids just share the pull-out couch. I would like to say that I have been particularly impressed with the service here. We had a bad mattress in our room, and I told the front desk. 10 minutes later, the maintenance guy came by and looked at it. 5 minutes after that, he and another guy came in with a brand new mattress and switched ours out. Later that day we called about the cable TV in the bedroom, and in five minutes they were working on it. That impresses me- lots of places are great when there are no problems- its when something goes wrong that you really find out whether they care.
Anyway, the beach is pretty, although it is relatively chilly down here this week so far. The water is that crystal clear light blue, and the sand is soft and deep. There is a lot of sea life to see. Yesterday we saw schools of fish swimming in the waves. I saw a manatee a few feet off the shore early this morning, as well as a very large fish, (15 foot, probably), leap clear out of the water and do a full spin in the air.
The area has a great deal to offer in the way of day trips. We just came back from Palm Beach Zoo, which I highly recommend. Here are some other great places nearby that we have been to in the past. Loggerhead Marinelife Center (turtle rescue), Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex, Lion Country Safari (it's gotten really expensive, print out coupons from their website), Butterfly World, Flamingo Gardens, John D. McArthur State Park, and Jonathan Dickinson State Park (rented kayaks there). Flagler Museum and the Morikami Japanese Gardens are two others that are supposed to be really good that we haven't hit yet.
Let me know if you have any questions.
