I put in a search and got this resort, one bedroom, for March 21. It has a real high tug rating, but when I read the reviews, there are some big negatives. I haven't confirmed yet, just wanted some input before I do.

We own there, and stayed there once.

The one-bedroom (which almost all the units are) is definitely cramped if more than two are staying. Otherwise the facililty was fine. We loved the beach and there's an interesting nature preserve a few miles away at the top end of the island that it's on (Singer Island).

On the other hand there's very little in the way of restaurants or shopping on Singer Island, and even after crossing the bridge to the mainland you need to go a few miles south towards Palm Beach or north towards Jupiter (if I'm remembering the geography correctly) to find a decent choice of restaurants, etc.

with the one bedroom having only a partial kitchen, not much chance on cooking? Do you remember if they have grills?

We stayed there a few years ago in a one bedroom. I agree the living area is just nice for 2 people, huge bathroom and nice bedroom. The pool was nice but very cramped. The beach was beautiful but not great for walking as it was too sloped when the tide was out. There was also a few some kind of sharks in the water, came right up to the tide wash. The island community was nice for walking and the marina was great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. The boat to Palm Beach left from here and we enjoyed it. They charge for parking and the timeshare sales pitch put us both of the resort. Overall I could return. Palm Beach was beautiful. We were ther in early February.

No grills as I recall, but we prepared dinner and ate in some.

We own there, and have cooked in the room a bunch of times, but there are no grills. You have a small 2 burner stove and a microwave/convection oven combo, so unless you're making a big meal, you can cook most anything.

I've never really understood the negative reviews, we've always had a great time there. We bought sight unseen off of ebay, and have been very happy. I've heard the pool can be very crowded in the spring/summer, but we've never had an issue in the fall when our week is.

Here right now

We did a last minute exchange into Palm Beach Shores Resort for the President's Day week- we are at the resort right now. This is the second time we have stayed here. We have two boys, age 11 and 8, and although the units are smaller than many we have stayed at, there is no problem with the four of us being in the 1 bdrm. The kids just share the pull-out couch. I would like to say that I have been particularly impressed with the service here. We had a bad mattress in our room, and I told the front desk. 10 minutes later, the maintenance guy came by and looked at it. 5 minutes after that, he and another guy came in with a brand new mattress and switched ours out. Later that day we called about the cable TV in the bedroom, and in five minutes they were working on it. That impresses me- lots of places are great when there are no problems- its when something goes wrong that you really find out whether they care.

Anyway, the beach is pretty, although it is relatively chilly down here this week so far. The water is that crystal clear light blue, and the sand is soft and deep. There is a lot of sea life to see. Yesterday we saw schools of fish swimming in the waves. I saw a manatee a few feet off the shore early this morning, as well as a very large fish, (15 foot, probably), leap clear out of the water and do a full spin in the air.

The area has a great deal to offer in the way of day trips. We just came back from Palm Beach Zoo, which I highly recommend. Here are some other great places nearby that we have been to in the past. Loggerhead Marinelife Center (turtle rescue), Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex, Lion Country Safari (it's gotten really expensive, print out coupons from their website), Butterfly World, Flamingo Gardens, John D. McArthur State Park, and Jonathan Dickinson State Park (rented kayaks there). Flagler Museum and the Morikami Japanese Gardens are two others that are supposed to be really good that we haven't hit yet.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate all the posts and suggestions.

Are you able to use the pool, is it heated? Does the resort have a fitness room and if so is it well equiped with treadmills and other cardiac machines? I have often thought about trading into this resort, but we are a family with two teenage boys and I only see one bedrooms available. I don't know if the one bedroom would be too crowded. Thanks for all info. Sue

Sue -

Pool is heated. There is a small exercise room, don't remember exactly what all is in it but there is definitely a treadmill or two, some free weights. I think there are another couple machines, maybe a stair climber or elliptical but don't remember 100%.
