Info to consider...

I have friends thinking about buying a week at this Resort in Sebastian. Any one own there? Thanks!

Jim:
I don't own there, but visited with my brother about a year ago; he was considering buying a week there (but did not do so). One facility is Friday to Friday, the other is Saturday to Saturday --- I don't recall which is which. Both places are now RCI Points associated, but with an interesting twist that your friends should very clearly understand in advance:

As I recall, the on site realtor is also a RCI Points rep. He offered the option to buy an available week and convert it to a RCI Points week (for an additional fee on top of the actual purchase price, which was also a reasonable figure). HOWEVER....if I recall correctly (and I had not previously heard of such a thing), upon each and every subsequent resale, that points week then reverts right back to a (non points) underlying week. In short, each and every buyer of each and every week there pays an additional fee upon each and every resale to convert a purchased week over to RCI points. I'm not suggesting that this is wrong or illegal, I'm just saying that I had not heard of such an arrangement before (or since, for that matter). I don't profess to be a RCI Points expert, but I did think it was a pretty good "racket" for the on site realtor / RCI points guy.

I also remember that the facility had little motorized skiffs available on site. My (rabid fisherman) brother almost purchased there for this reason alone. He ultimately bought a place of his own (not a timeshare) further south in FL (a place which included a boat and dock). I think with the boat and dock included, he would have purchased that property even if the house had only been a cardboard box. From his perspective as a dedicated (crazed?) fisherman, the house was "thrown in" with the boat and dock. ;)

Hope some of the above is either useful, helpful, or entertaining....
