well after 4 months on REDWEEK with absolutely no, none, nada inquiries as to my MARCH orlando rental, today i got 3 emails and it's rented. woohoo!!!.now i can pay my m/f's for 2009 and the process starts all over again
Most people who rent the TS have said over the years that they generally don't get renters till between 4-6 months before travel. So it shouldn't be a surprise that you didn't get any offers till now.

We have two Christmas week rentals (one ski & one beach), and one New Years week (ski) rental. We just started getting nibbles in Sept, with a few more "real" contacts just this week. Last year the Caribbean week didn't rent until about 5-6 weeks out. The Caribbean week may be difficult this year with the $$$ flights. We rent at about 60-70% of the resort's rental rates, and about 1.5x - 2x the maintenance fees.
I placed a rental ad on Redweek on September 11th for a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit for President's week 2009 in southeast Florida. I received an inquiry within 8 hours, and 2 more within the next two days. I rented it quickly to the first couple who contacted me
Meanwhile I placed the same ad on the same date at the new TUG Marketplace. The only response I received was a Nigerian scheme pitch
I too got rentals immediately for two Week 7 SE FL weeks after placing both a TUG ad and a Redweek ad (one from each site). A couple of others rented after a 2-3 weeks. Places were priced very reasonable.
Then this stock market meltdown - inquiries just ceased.
I know that on multiple holidays, I have gotten emails just 4-5 days before a holiday. The internet with it's ability to get what you want NOW rewards the "I don't know what I am doing next week" vacationers. So be it. One must adapt, so I book my airfare at refundable rates.
