I've been putting together a trip for my mom around FL in September so need a 2BR. I got an exchange for Marriott Ocean Pointe for the 11-18th, and then booked with points Wyndham Bay Club II from 26th-3rd. I need to fill that gap somewhere in Florida, ideally not more than an 8hr drive to or from my 2 end points. Obviously Orlando comes to mind, but where? And because we have no burning desire for Orlando, is there somewhere else with a good deal?

I was just on Interval checking getaways and there's SVV which I've stayed at before and was OK, but also Westgate Town Center(@dioxide45 made a video that made me consider a getaway at a Westgate) and Aquasol an HVC. I also have RCI but haven't checked there yet. I was figuring if I did RCI I'd just wait till I was about to leave and grab a Last Call, but with the Getaway prices right now I might just lock it in.

Should this be in Sightings IDK. (and I realize I'll need a hotel night in the middle cause the Fri-Fri of Ocean Pointe didn't line up with Sat-Sat of most other weeks).

So - I've also checked RCI Points, and could get 8 days at Calypso Kay (and maybe others), or 7 days at a number of places too - but not sure if the RCI points values are worth it - I have 66,000 still from this year, rolls over in August, but I'm currently platinum so I think I can also use it next 2 use years. Just not sure if I'd just end up needing to burn the points next year or 2 anyway. Benefit of the points - I'm paying the MF anyway in Feb (I don't understand the schedule either).

OTOH, as far as I know Orlando almost always has 2BR last calls, and so I could get away with that ~ $379 I think. Or possibly even next years Vacation Village "free week cert" and the $299 exchange. But I'm waiting till 45 days out to know. Some of the Getaways are only $100-$150 more and locks it in now, probably at a nicer property. I saw someone say SVV was "the nicest" but I don't think that's the case from the TUG reviews.

So what would you do? Getaway, Exchange, Wait for random Last Call?

For September in Orlando, my experience is there will be a ton of availability, making it perfect for an AC, last call or Getaway. It is just too early to see all those deals.

I wouldn't use an exchange unless I could get a DVC unit, which could be possible in September.

As for where to stay, I would try to narrow that down so you can book it if you see it. Try to narrow down where you'd think is best.

Waiting for Last Call can be risky. There is often always something available, but what type of resort quality would you want. I don't think I would book anything other than Cypress Palms or Parkway. An issue can sometimes be that there might only be 1BR units available when you need a 2BR. Paying an extra hundred bucks to secure something well in advance is sometimes money well spent.

Agree that September should be real easy to pick up something for Orlando in II via Getaway or AC. Even for the nicer Marriott properties. Sometimes they might show up as a Getaway for a lot ($800+) for a 2BR but if you wait they will drop.

I agree a getaway or using an AC will be plentiful and cheap in Orlando in Sept. I suggest SVV also and it tends to have plenty of availablity. We love the superpool with waterfalls and amenities there and the location is great. But any Marriott property should do. Right now I see a getaway at SVV in a 2br checkin 9/19 checkout 9/26 for a good price. The trick at SVV is to avoid the Bella section as it is huge and overdue for a refurb so we request one of the others. Sept is low occupancy so a request should not be an issue. One of my Marriott owner friends loves Cypress Harbor but i have not stayed there yet. Grand Vista is fine also and tends to have a lot of availability similar to SVV. My favorite is Lakeshore Reserve but you don't often see a 2br getaway.

As you get closer to Sept you will see more and more getaway inventory.

The ACs usually take longer to show up, so if you want to book soon wait for a getaway discount as they are often and one should be available here soon. And as mentioned, the prices tend to drop but it is really one of the easiest and cheapest months to book Orlando so waiting 1-3 months out should not be an issue.
