Thinking when USA lets us back in to go in January and would be staying in Harbour Lake but not sure if the pools will be too cold then to use?

Really hit or miss in January, as the weather can be all over the place. If the pools are heated (you can check on the Marriott web site - not MVC - under Fitness and it'll tell you if heated), you'll be more than fine, the sun is still pretty strong even in January so it feels warmer than the air temp sometimes.

I usually go to Disney in December and haven't had good luck. January is typically cooler than December. Many days are just too cold for the pool. Its fine if the pool is heated and your in it, but if it's 60F out, you're going to absolutely freeze when you get out. You may get a couple good days and be able to plan to go to parks on cooler days and go to the pool on warmer days.

So December not much better either! Want to avoid the summer as it would be too hot for me and limited with kids in school!!

The Orlando/Central Florida area usually gets it's first cooler weather in early to mid December. If you are able to travel to Orlando in November it will still be warm enough to swim in an outdoor pool, but the air temperature probably will no longer be very hot.

Hi,
All the pools at the Marriott vacation club resorts are heated. He coldest weather weeks are usually the end of January. It can be be chilly from early November til end of March but it can also be pretty hot. If you are coming from a cold place then your kids would be happy to swim in an Orlando pool in January or December.
Orlando goes from overly hot to chilly nights without many “perfect” days in between.

If you plan to go to parks then January after New Years is a quiet time at the parks but they do close earlier then in the busy times.
Once race weekend starts up again that is a crazy January weekend

It's very hit or miss. It could be 80s or 50s. You won't know until you're ready to leave for the airport.

Summer is very hot and humid with almost daily rain. Since we're tied to school schedules, we make the most of it. Spring time is really the best time to go. Late fall is great too.

Average temp in Orlando in January is between 71 degrees for the high, and 59 for the low...pool temps will probably be chilly unless the pool is heated, which probably will be the case.

We're going to be at Cypress Harbour pretty much those same exact dates. We're driving down so I'll just work the lousy days, go to the parks the cooler days, and hit the pool on the warmest. With over two weeks there you'll likely get some warm weather. The good news is that it doesn't rain that much in January.

We have been going to Orlando in January every other year for the past 25 years- weather definitely varies.
Sometimes we‘ve only had 1 or 2 sunny pool days for the week, others it’s warm every day.
Last time we went in 2020 it was historic cold weather, the iguana were falling out of the trees and we saw hundreds of manatees crowed into the warm waters in Blue Springs State park.
There is so much to do in Orlando that you can be happy in any weather- a pool is a pool doesn’t matter where you are, if you are going to Orlando take advantage of the theme parks, nature parks, museums, etc.
PS- Harbour lake is my home resort- the pool is heated. How old are your kids- if they are not really hound Grande Vista or Cypress Harbour might be a better choice if available.

Number of people at the pools in January is likely directly proportional to the number of Canadians staying at the resort.

And new englanders- we are in shorts, Floridians are in puffer coats! The kids thought that was so funny when they were young- they used to play the coat spotting game- extra points for mittens!

We'll be back right after Thanksgiving again.
Hopefully the park reservation requirements are gone by then. We like to play it be ear also, but having to be locked in ahead of time has added a kink to that strategy.

By then they will be 8, 12 & 12 and they love Harbour Lake so will defo go back there this time and then make GV the time after when they have outgrown HL.

It seems that the rumor is that park reservations may be here to stay.

Well that's no fun. Hopefully at least capacity limits will be higher to allow some weather flexibility.

Temps in December/January in Florida vary wildly. One year over Christmas/New Years we were suffering in mid-80s heat at MK, desperate to get back to our pool, and the very next day we were suffering in AK in a low-40s drizzle and were so cold we couldn't stand it any more. YMMV.

We've been to Orlando and the wider Florida area during August on several occasions. Spain, especially Southern Spain, is hotter than Florida in August however it's more humid in Florida and it does rain frequently but not for long periods. Have you considered Easter if your kids have two weeks off? That may prove more favourable temperature wise.

Yeah, we think about winter weather in Orlando as one of three things:

"Cold" -- no one wants to swim.
"Kid-Warm" -- kids want to swim, parents not so much.
"Parent-Warm" -- everyone is up for the pool.

We typically go in late February, and usually get about 1-2 days of "Parent-Warm", another 2-4 days of "Kid-Warm", and the rest are "Cold".
