Resort Name: GRAND BEACH VACATION RESORT
Looking for feedback on the Three Bedroom Units at:
Grand Beach Vacation Resort near Walt Disney World
I have seen the resort from the highway and it appears much smaller
than others in the area. I am not looking for "resort activities" just
something nice - clean - recently remodeled with newer furnishings
Never owned or stayed, but took the SunTerra timeshare tour there (for freebies) a few years back -- didn't buy but was mightily impressed with the overall niceness of the place.
Apparently the plans for completing the resort -- more condo buildings, recreational facilities, etc. -- have slowed somewhat in that the place looks pretty much the same now as it did when we toured 2 years or so back. At the time it was SunTerra Embassy Grand Beach. Since then I believe they dropped the Embassy part.
When we bought our eBay Floating Diamond 3BR lock-off Orlando timeshare in 2003, it wasn't clear till the auction was over whether we were bidding on Embassy Grand Beach or Cypress Pointe Grandevillas -- the auction title said Grandevillas & the item description & photos were all Grand Beach.
We were mainly interested in The Grandevillas, after taking a timeshare tour there while we were staying at the original Cypress Pointe Resort At Lake Buena Vista. After doing some (Internet) research, we decided we'd be happy -- at our price -- with either Grandevillas or Grand Beach.
When dust settled after the auction ended, it turned out we had just bought Cypress Pointe Grandevillas for a bargain price. I believe the bidding was depressed by confusion the seller caused over having the auction title say 1 timeshare & the item description & pictures say another.
So it goes.

We liked the following resorts in Orlando, Cypress Pointe and Sheraton's Vistana Villages. But to our surprise the grandkids really in enjoy a resort outside of Orlando called Ron Jon at Cocoa Beach.
Marty enjoy your retirement and keep sending took wonderful pictures on your T/S travels.
We were last there in Nov 2000 during the contested election. 3 bedroom unit was between 1500 and 2000 square feet. Our unit was basically two almost master suites with large living, kitchen, dining are in between. One of the bath's either in primary master or in hall at that end of unit had large jacuzzi-type bath, separate stall fixture, large stand up shower, that room was about 10 x 15.
We would return here and actually I almost took it for November this year, but can't figure out if high school sophomore will have any school activities during the 3 days we have off for Veteran's Day and teachers' workshop.

Yes they are very nice and only get the Silver Crown from RCI currently. I would rather stay there than OLCC or Vistana because the quality is consistent.
Sad to see Embassy's name leaving their beautiful resorts. Maybe Sunterra can bring Grand Beach back to Gold Crown. I think it deserves GC more than many other resorts in Orlando that keep their GC because they are still actively selling. There are definitely politics involved with the ratings, I am sure of it. :annoyed:
Marty,
We stayed at this property over Thanksgiving, we took our best friends with us. We had a total of 4 adults and 3 kids in the unit. We had plenty of room, towels and the layout of the unit is perfect for large groups. But, I do have to tell you we had housekeeping issues. We went to 3 rooms before we found one that was clean enough for us to check in. Looking at your TS list, you may want to check the unit before you drag your luggage up to the room. The resort is really much larger then in looks from the Highway. The manager took us to the last unit himself. So, they did seem concerned about the issues. The second unit even had dirty dishes put away in the cabinet. But, other then housekeeping issues - we were happy with the unit. It may not be up to the standards of some of your other TS stays - but you should be fine. I think the RID rating by RCI is an accurate rating. The units could be Gold Crown, but they just are not quite there. But, the floor plan is great, it is nice big unit, great location and we would go back. We have also stayed at many of the resorts that you have and the Grand Beach is not in my top 10. But, it is very nice.

We have stayed at Grand Beach three times and have had great units, very clean and maintained, plus we had more room than most, except for Summer Bay, which is larger.
I am anxious to hear your opinion, since you are the Queen of Clean, Marti! I rarely look under the sofa or check the air filter in the air conditioner. Please report on this resort when you stay there.
I stayed there several years ago with my granddaughter, a friend and her granddaughter. We had a 3BR, with two master suites, each with bath, and a twin bedded room with it's own bath. Each Granny had her own suite, and the girls had a room together. It was great! Very convenient to Disney, and other spots on International Drive. I got it as a 3BR unit, an RCI trade, although I am a Sunterra Club member. I was unaware that it is no longer EVR at Grand Beach. Whatever it is called, it is a nice property.
We visited last year, when my cousin and some friends were staying there. We were very impressed with the layout of the unit and the grounds of the resort. We didn't get to swim to test the pool temp, as it was a very cool day. We would not hesitate to exchange there.
