Orlando Exchange Through RCI

I hope to make my first exchange with RCI in the coming months. I own FF/Wyndham points and I deposited 28,000 into my RCI account a few weeks ago. We hope to visit family in the area sometime this spring so I was hoping to use my 28,000 deposit to pull at least a 2 bedroom - preferably 3 bedroom - in Orlando.

Am I crazy to think I can get a 3 bedroom with a 28,000 point deposit? I understand Orlando is overbuilt so I should be able to pull something, but what kind of accommodations I do not know.

What is the best way to go about this exchange? Our travel plans are flexible and we don't have a specific time we have to travel. Should I try for something within a 45 day window? Of course I'd love Bonnet Creek or something equivalent, but I won't be too picky. The purpose of our trip is not to visit Disney, so proximity to the park is not relevant to me. Should I call and ask to search first?

I appreciate any advice from veteran exchangers. I'm getting the hang of the FF/Wyndham system (thanks TUG!) but exchanging through RCI intimidates me!

The easiest way is to use the 45-day window, in combination with a deposit you can use to search online. Look in the mornings, put the week you want on hold, and then call to confirm it with the blue studio.

If you don't have a searchable week, you'll have to call. That can be very hit-or-miss.

Beyond the 45-day window, a blue studio may not see the "better" weeks in spring break, summer, or holiday weeks.

with a 28k deposit i was able to get a 3 br at orangelake but its for may 2010. also with 28k i'm staying at the sheraton vistana in jan. in a 2 bedroom. i was offered a 3 bedroom grand beach for sept. '09 but couldn't take it. so my point is that it is possible to get a 3 bedroom and definitely a 2 bedroom.

With a 28K deposit I pulled HGVC on International Drv and Seaworld. Both were very nice resorts. I did see a bulk space bank for International Drive with some 3 BR units but not sure if 28K will be enough to get the 3BR at the Hiltons.

We go to Orlando often and also pulled Orange Lake, Vistana and Summer Bay with 28K.

Good Luck

It was a house but that was a few years back. The more recent exchanges were the Hiltons and Orange Lake.
