I am trying to make a somewhat difficult trade into Orlando for 2011. It is the Sunday before Easter (4-17-2011). I had an ongoing search with RCI for a bunch of resorts - Vistanna, Cypress Pointe, Orange Lake, Silver Lake, HGVC, Bonnet Creek and any DVC. (There might have been a few more - Grand Beach, Vacation Village at Parkway - I believe). All good resorts that are close to the Disney parks.

The search was with a Dikhololo Studio (SA week). It had been searching since 4-16-2009 and nothing. I have been looking on line pretty often (maybe 5 times a day), and today I finally found "Orbit One - 2 bedroom" - so I put it on hold (which cancelled my ongoing search - ugh). Everything else had been 1 bedroom - or Grand Lake or something far away. On the whole the reviews look pretty good for Orbit One and the location for Disney is fantastic (we are big Disney fans). But should I re-enter the search for all the other resorts? Or grab this resort and be happy. My wife really wants a 2 bedroom so the kids have a place to sleep comfortably (not a sofa) that has a washer and dryer, a decent pool. This seems to fit all of that. Should I confirm it? Just seeking oppinions. I want it to be a nice vacation.

Can anyone see any better 2 bedrooms for that time? Should I wait?

I have until tomorrow at COB.

Need your help.

Thanks!

Hi David and welcome to TUG!

If you join TUG, you will have access to our Sightings Board where TUG members can actually list the exchanges available for that week for your viewing pleasure, and the TUG TS reviews and ratings, where you can look up potential exchanges.

Tuggers rate Orbit One 6.93/10, which I would consider a C-.

I think you have a trading power problem - especially trying to trade a studio for a 2 bdm. holiday week.

I put my dad up at Orbit One. His wife is a stickler for cleanliness, and they liked it quite a bit. It's got a good location for the parks (just across 192 from the Sherberth road entrance), and the units have been well-kept if a bit worn around the edges.

There are 2BRs right now at Wyndham Cypress Palms. This is a nicer resort than Orbit One, but arguably not as well located. If you can see that one, it might be worth taking. If you can't you *definitely* have a trade power problem.

FWIW, Bonnet Creek already deposited April. That weekend was not in the bulk bank. DVC is iffy unless you can see other units in those resorts (and even then not a certainty for a 2BR). Vistana is long gone; you're pretty late for that.

Did you see the post today where someone needs to get out of their Vistana:

I am not sure if it is a 2 bedroom but maybe you can help each other out? Even though you wanted to trade if that is one of the resorts you preferred maybe she would let you pay 2011 MF for use of the property and then she'll have more time to find a buyer starting in 2012?

For your dates, I see a 2BR at Wyndham Cypress Palms for $440.99 with an extra vacation. Perhaps that is a better choice?

Confirm Orbit One (IMHO)

From everything you mentioned, confirm Orbit One! It's one less headache for your intended travel plans.

It's ideal for the kids having their own bedroom, has a full-sized washer & dryer in each unit (helps to 'reduce' packing), and with the exception of Silver Lake, it is the closest to Disney World.

Our family loved it when we stayed there, for the things you mention as well as the pools (you can watch Wishes at night from the pool!), arcade for the kids, cleanliness of the unit and grounds, and how many restaurants were so close by (a short walking distance or within a 5 minute drive).

We've also stayed at Silver Lake, Vistanna, Orange Lake (we're owners there), Westgate, and too many more to mention. IMHO (in my humble opinion), you've got your accomodations already taken care of and you won't be disappointed.

Confirmed

Thanks everyone. I confirmed it. It is becoming harder and harder with my lousy Dikhololo trader to get anything decent (it used to be pretty good). It is also a Holiday week. I showed Orbit One to my family last night and they liked the water slides and the layouts of the room and they are very excited, so we booked it. And we all like the location. The tripadvisor reviews have been very good lately too. (13 out of 187 hotels in Kissimmee)

I would have taken the Wyndham but it does not show up for me. But I think this will be fun.

Thanks everyone!

I put my Daughter, Husband and 2 kids up at Orbit One. They were very pleased. They told me resort was nice and the location great. I think you did the right thing by confirming the Week.

We have stayed there a few times, but the cost was really cheap, and that made the difference for us. But our first trip was better than our second--by a lot.

The units are clean, but they allow smoking so our second time was not as good because the first two units they assigned (we went back two times to get a different unit) were stinky. I couldn't stomach it, so now there is no way we would take this resort.

I would have taken Cypress Palms. It's really clean, the units are extremely nice, and it's just more comfortable for us. Orbit One shouldn't be rated Silver Crown, but Cypress Palms deserves it. Ironically, of the Wyndham resorts near Orlando, Cypress Palms is rated below Orlando International Resort Club (also Wyn). That's a joke, in my opinion. I have seen all Wyndham Orlando resorts and wouldn't take Orlando International Resort Club again!
