As posted earlier, it had been stated that the Olympic-size swimming pool in the West Village will be replaced with a zero-entry swimming pool. In the latest release of Orange Lake's E-News, it states exactly that. I am in favor of keeping the Olympic-size swimming pool The only real problem was that it wasn't heated and therefore was not used much during the winter months compared to the other swimming pools. The solution should have been to heat it. Only time will tell about the new pool but hopefully it will be deeper than the 2 feet 6 inches to 3 feet 3 inches that is the depth of the lazy river at River Island (except under some of the overhead passes where it reaches 4 feet).

I know you love the olympic pool, Gary. I'm sorry you are losing it. But the resort believes the zero entry pool is much more popular with the majority of owners and guests.

By the way....what do you think of the artist's rendering of the new West Village Clubhouse? I think it's high end all the way! Just like the new golf villas.

Vickie,

From what I saw of the artist drawings, I like. It is good to see that the resort is taking the time to upgrade. I really thought it was going to start almost 3 years ago but it does take a lot of planning.

As far as the pool, I suspect that it will be a hit with families, especially those with smaller children. While I like the lazy river at River Island, I do also like to be able to swim, at least a little. I just don't think another 2 feet 6 inch to 3 feet 3 inch pool will cut it, at least not for adults. I believe that Splash Lagoon is around 4 feet and for the most part, it is workable. The Hilton Grand Vacation Club at I-Drive's pool is also around 4 to 4 1/2 feet deep and it is also deep enough for adults but not too deep most children. But it is not a zero-entry pools and the pools that I have seen that are zero-entry tend not to be very deep. I will reserve judgment until I get more information on the pool but with the cabanas and such, it sounds like a remake of the River Island area but on on a smaller scale. And that's not a bad thing. I would have kept the Olympic-size pool as it provided a differentiating feature from other resorts.
