We went to an owner update yesterday at NCV. Our sales lady accidentally let slip that when they sell package deals (a deeded week +points) they wait to pick a resale week up through ROFR in order to fill that sale directly through Marriott. Has anyone heard this before?

She also tried to tell us that is was nearly impossible to buy through the resale market anymore and that we just lucked out when we bought our resale deeded week. She said since work for Marriott (15 years according to her) she has only see THREE deeded weeks purchased through redweek - including ours. 😆 🤣
I didn't mention that we just had an offer accepted on Redweek for a 2nd Deeded NCV.

No...rather the opposite. If you have a good MVC salesperson (particularly one you've worked with before) they will give you a list of the weeks inventory they have to fulfill a hybrid purchase.

Evidently she's only worked for three days over those fifteen years...

I think your question is about whether they wait for a buyer in order to ROFR a week. I don’t think so, and I think that would be pretty hit or miss for Marriott. When we were offered a hybrid the salesperson has a spreadsheet of actual deeded weeks that were available for sale.

The hybrid week comes enrolled. For us, buying resale plus a developer week in Aruba made much more sense from a long term MF standpoint anyway.

Did you ask her how she would "see" anything about weeks purchased resale, much less where the seller advertised? As if salespeople get some list as to every resale transaction MVC processes. How absurd. Knowing how long it takes for MVC to transfer ownership (100 days), clearly there are a lot of resale weeks transactions. These people say the most stupid things.

It wasn't a slip. It was something said to make you think you were being offered something you shouldn't. Thus more likely to jump on the speclial deal.

These are also not weeks that Marriott acquires via ROFR or even foreclosure. These are weeks that are part of the Marriott resales department. Owners who want to sell their weeks and Marriott pairs them up with a certain number of points as a bundle. They literally offer this all the time. Nothing special. The list of weeks changes some, but not all that much because they have long lists at most resorts where people want to sell.
