One Week Left! SPG Amex 30,000 Point Offer
The increased Starwood Amex Personal and Business card offers will be coming to an end next week. Those who apply and get approved by September 3 receive 10,000 Starpoints after first spend and an additional 20,000 Starpoints after meeting $5,000 in spend within six months.

Keep in mind that you may not be approved instantly, so if this is a card you’ve thought about picking up, it’s best to do it sooner rather than later. If you are approved after September 3, you will receive the lower 25,000 point offer.

The SPG Amex made it onto #5 on our Top 30 credit cards list, so it is a great card to keep in your wallet, paying out a flexible point currency and offering a low $65 annual fee that is waived the first year.

Thanks

Just got one
I had one last year and closed it before I had to pay the fee
This is a great offer

We decided to get this card after considering other options. Now that we own in the Starwood system, and with this special incentive, we decided to move forward. We also like getting a 25% bonus if you transfer at least 20k points to an airline.

It was interesting, my DW got her card the next day and I received mine in 2 days. Didn't expect that quick of a turn around.

I finally bit the bullet and registered for a card for my husband. I'll either cancel his when the year is up or I'll cancel the one I've had for about a decade now.

Thanks for the heads up, David.

I just upgraded to the Platinum business card and was offered 30K points just for upgrading. Although the annual fee is hefty, the extra points can be transferred for airtravel with the additional bonus added. We are traveling a lot this year, and I thought the airport club access was a nice perk. Has anyone used the card to access the clubs domestically or internationally?

I have. Both domestically and internationally. The clubs are where you relax, play on the Internet, get food and drink (usually not very elaborate, though), shower (if necessary when overnighting to Europe) and can rearrange flights and get on standby lists. No hassles at all. I've never even been asked to show a qualifying ticket. (US Air officially says you don't need a US Air ticket.) Most places just show the Plat. Amex card. Notable exception: United doesn't accept the card for entry.

Plus, there are reticketing counters in most clubs. You can wiggle around flights and pick up the boarding pass right there or get on waiting lists.

Finally, Plat. Amex has the best early fraud detection in the credit card business. If your card has been compromised or lost, you will receive a replacement in 24 hours. I have both a Plat. Amex and a Starwood Amex. They serve different purposes. Salty
