Hi, I need some help from someone who knows Florida. My granddaughter is going to a skating competition in February in a city named Oldsmar, Florida.
Does anyone know if there are any timeshares close to this city? Thank you in advance for your help.

Try the Tampa area. It's been a long time but my parents lived in Clearwater and went to Oldsmar Flea Market. Someone else can be more specific. It is 12 miles NE Clearwater area and 16 miles NW of the Tampa Airport in Pinellas County.

Sutherland Crossing

Sutherland Crossing is probably the closest one. It is located in Crystal Beach FL. I'm familiara with the Oldsmar area and I know where the skating rink is.

ps. I may be offline until Monday night, but will answer any questions then.

Oldsmar is in Hillsborough County west of Tampa and east of Pinellas County (Clearwater, St. Pete, etc.). I would look for something on one of the Pinellas beaches if I had to be in that area. Tampa really has nothing to offer in the way of timeshare resorts and Oldsmar is really just a speck on the map in any event - not really a town.

Hotels

There are several hotels/motels in Oldsmar that have been build in the last couple of years.

Sorry, Oldsmar is in Pinellas County on the Hillsborough County border.

She must be skating at the Tampa Bay Skating Academy.

If you check out the Google Timeshare Map (http://tug2.com/tsmaps/TimeshareMaps.html) you will see there are no timeshares in Hillsborough County. The ones in Pinellas are concentrated along the coast, a few miles from Oldsmar.

There are a number of Hotels right nearby on Tampa Rd and Forest Lakes Blvd (SR 580).

By the way. Oldsmar was a town started by Mr. R.E. Olds of Oldsmobile fame. Check out http://www.ci.oldsmar.fl.us/map.htm

When you book your air, be sure to check both Tampa Airport and Clearwater/St. Pete Airport. They have a number of low cost carriers that Tampa does not offer.

Let me know if you need any other info about the area. I live nearby.

I stand corrected. :D Never, in all my previous treks in that direction, noticed any kind of signage about entering Pinellas County, so just assumed I was still in my home county. Of course, we live in eastern Hillsborough County and would rather take a beating than drive all the way to the Oldsmar area for anything, so it's been a couple of years. :)
