This seems odd to me. I have Facebook friends that have passed away. Occasionally they show up on the side contact list even though they can't be active. Today I had eight of these deceased show up at the same time today. Only three of these people meant anything real to me so I unfriended all of the rest thinking they won't show up. But they still show up. One of the people shows up every time I open Facebook and it's one of my favorite people so I'm ok with that. One of them recently passed at 60 years old and is a relative I like to drink with throughout our lives. He is showing up daily.

It doesn't really bother me but just seems odd.

Somebody has to close out the Facebook page or turn it into a memorial one when the owner passes. I think there is somewhere in FB for you to designate somebody to do that when you pass away. We have had some friends suddenly pass who's family did nothing with their pages and it is kind of creepy to get birthday notifications each year. A friend of mine who was diagnosed with cancer and was posting her journey had her DH designated to memorialize her page when she passed and many people posted their condolences and memories of her on the page and continue to do so on the anniversary of her passing. Her DH was still sharing their mutual memories last time I saw her page. I have 'unfriended' everybody that I was friends with who have passed away.

If you 'unfriend' somebody, I think you should only see them mentioned in your memories, not on your regular feed. If their pages have not been closed out then FB may suggest them as a friend for you based on mutual friends or groups you both belong to.
