Hi! I am headed to Oceana Palms next month. Have been there once before, about 4 years ago. On that stay we were ocean front so just requested a high floor. This time, we are ocean view so I plan to request a high floor in the Sunrise building (the one closest to ocean). I know there is construction going on next door, so would I request north or south facing view to avoid the noise? Which side is the construction on? Any reason to request the Sunset building instead? Which building is more recently refurbished? Thanks in advance! :)

The construction is on the south side. I don't know that it would matter between sunrise or sunset. I don't think I'd have a building preference if we were to book ocean side

The gym is in the sunset building, but the pool is closer to the sunrise building and the restaurant and market are in the sunrise building. The resort footprint is small, so there are no great distances to travel. We've stayed ocean-view in both buildings looking North. Each one has great views, especially from the higher floors.

From past threads, it seems that the construction is a non issue. Just pushing some dirt around at the moment, if that. Perhaps more of just an eyesore than anything.

We were at Oceana two weeks ago for six days of almost nonstop rain. The construction on the south side has started. They are now driving pylons into the ground. We were in the Sunrise building on the 18th floor ocean view, north side. We did not hear construction noise but in the fitness center (south side of Sunset building) the noise was pretty intense. I believe the rooms in Sunrise have been recently updated. What a beautiful facility with an amazing staff. We loved it in spite of the rain.

Thanks so much, that is super helpful! Sorry to hear you had bad weather, that's exactly how it was on our trip 4 years ago. Hopefully we will have sun this time. :D

Yes, June has been incredibly rainy thus far. And that week you were here, it rained everyday for 2 weeks just about with maybe 1 day of sun. Usually June isn't that rainy, especially by the beach. Sucks your trip was ruined. I'm staying on a F&F rate next month at Oceana and got the e-mail about the construction. I was on the opening team of Oceana Palms and it was such a beautiful building. Blows away Beach Place, Ocean Pointe, etc. in terms of style & elegance. No 1 bedrooms or studios either and a very high ADR so it keeps out any riff-raff...
Went back last year to see they opened the other tower and got a side ocean view there. It was not bad of a view, but the Surnise tower is definitely better for views and has the ocean front option. I prefer a lower floor (maybe 8-12) for ocean front so you can see more of the beach and waves vs high floor where its just dark blue at night.

Curious to see this construction issue though. That lot was vacant for a very long time, too bad Marriott couldn't scoop it up and expand.

Currently staying at Oceana now in the Oceanfront (Sunrise) tower. I asked for a North Facing room. Incredible views of course. No construction noise what-so-ever. I've barely seen any activity there and we arrived on Thursday. The people in the hallways and rooms above are noisier than anything else I've heard.

Of course the place is beautiful as always. Crystal clear beach water, pools are decently busy but not overcrowded, lots of amenities now since they opened (multiple bean bag toss games, putting green is new, etc.)

Having a great time!

This is awesome news! We arrive next Sunday. Hopefully there will not be much noise during our week.
