Not sure if it would matter, with the trust owning so many units here, unfortunately the weeks based owners vote really won't mean much at Oceana Palms.

Who represents DC Trust point owners?

This raises a question in my mind. Each resort has a BOD or ABOD depending on its constitution. However what form of representation do DC Trust point owners have? In Asia the MVCI Asia Pacific points club has a separate ABOD which point owners elect. The ABOD has input to MVCIAP Club on issues such as MFs for the points system. Where MVCIAP own weeks at a resort such as Phuket Beach Club the points club obviously has voting rights at the resort quivalent to the weeks that they own just like all other weeks owners. Judging by the total number of votes cast at the last elections at PBC the MVCIAP Club did not use it's votes since the number of votes cast was quite low.

So do DC Trust point owners have a Any form of owner elected body that represents them to MVW?

Hopefully a trust owner can confirm, but I am pretty sure that the trust has a board of trustees. The trust owners vote for these trustees. I would suspect then that the trustees make a decision as to how to cast their votes in the individual HOA proxies. Whether they actually cast those votes or not is another question.

I own 1500 trust points but do not recall ever having an opportunity to vote for board members. I also own at Oceana Palms and have been concerned that our BOD options in previous years have not had much experience in representing MVC owners. I fear that trust will trump weeks owners in the future although I love the resort and have been impressed with management so far.

Just left Oceana Palms headed for Marco. We were very pleased with staff. The views from Sunset surprised us. We were in Sunrise and thought the views were comparable. Pool area was never crowded.

MVC Trust Owners have no say in the composition of the MVC Trust Owners Association Board. All MVC TOA Board members are appointed by MVW. MVW's business model is to self-deal by controlling MVC TOA BOD and eventually have the MVC Trust control all the component sites. Zero transparency; zero oversight of MF; ticking time bomb for breach of fiduciary duty at both the MVC TOA Board level and at each component site where MVC Trust takes over the board.

This thread is over a decade old and several people replied long ago that as trust owners they don't vote for trustees. Thus it has been answered in this thread already.

The answer was not definitive. What is the harm in providing a definitive answer and raising awareness of this issue that is of great import to any legacy owners who might be awakened into getting involved at their property to stave off a takeover by MVC Trust? Seriously "several people?" No, one person who said they did not recall. I think it is extremely important that all owners, legacy and MVC Trust, be aware of this issue.

I was specifically looking for threads to see the extent to which this had been highlighted, and so far this is the only one I found, and it was troubling that one of the most prolific and respected posters (@dioxide45) was not aware of this and then made no comment when he was allegedly made aware.

O. Paul Ryan, candidate for a Board position, MVC/MVW employee.

John Parker has been and still maybe on Ocean Pointe board.

There is a John Parker who has a long history as Marriott employee. It would be quite the coincidence for this John Parker serving on/running for multiple property boards to not be the John Parker who is also a longtime Marriott employee.

[Moderator Note: I'm locking this twelve-year-old thread because it was resurrected from The Deep in order for one poster to repeat, again, criticisms of MVW's management style based on its Trust-based points product that was introduced in 2010. From this moderation forward I will be deleting as duplicates any new posts that are in the same vein (excepting, of course, posts having to do with something new and exciting that substantiates a new thread.)

For those who may be unaware, or have forgotten, here are a few gentle reminders:
- The TUG Rules do not allow duplicate posts. It also makes for a very convoluted forum to follow if same/similar thoughts are posted in multiple threads.
- TUGgers are not known to hesitate joining in to discussions which interest them. Repeating the same/similar thoughts in multiple threads won't spur people to engage if they're not inclined to do so.
- This site's rules also do not allow discussion of moderation in the public forums. As always, if anyone has a problem with this moderation please feel free to hit the Report button in this post to call attention to it from admin and the other mods.

Thanks, everyone!]
