We will be checking into Ocean Pointe on Sat 9/11 and need some suggestions of things to do in the area. We haven't been to this resort for about 10 years. It will be myself, Hubby, Daughter and her BF (25 yrs old)

What interesting restaurants? Things to do and see ?

We thought about renting Kayaks at John D. McArthur Park and doing some snorkeling at Phil Foster Park.

Any and all ideas welcome.

thx - MaryK

Several restaurants are walkable, including Sailfish (west of the resort on the intercoastal) and a few in the "town square". Most are pretty good and there are some happy hour specials. Johnny Longboats has a jazz brunch on Sundays which is pretty cool. McArthur park is really nice.

If you drive a bit there's a bunch more...Jupiter has more restaurants, a really cool miniature golf course and shopping. We don't do a whole lot of running around while we're there...that's our "chill" resort and we save our touristy stuff for Orlando.

I highly recommend the Sunset Celebration at Sailfish Marina on Thursday nights. You can walk to this free event where they will have vendors with jewelry, artwork and other items. They have a nice outside waterfront bar or restaurant if you choose. But the star attraction is the "grouper dogs" (or conch fritters, which we did not try). The grouper dog is a inexpensive fish sandwich. they are so good you can easily eat 2 of them! A very simple and casual evening outside.

Tip: Take some old bread or crackers or something that you can feed the fish. There are tons of fish right at the marina that you can feed. You will be surprised at what you see.....

We go to Lion Country Safari every time we stay there and it's great, especially with kids. Drive through area with great animals and then large walk through area. Lots of fun!

This is the worst thing you can do. You should never feed fish bread or crackers, they cannot digest it, it swells up in their stomach and causes a whole host of problems and can often be fatal.

Fish are more than adept at finding their own food, they don't need to be fed crap from us

We have come to really enjoy a couple of restaurants when visiting.

The one that is closest doesn’t look like much. Paris in Town is a nice little breakfast, lunch, bakery across from Public’s at the north end of the island. I stop in for the baked eggs at least once each trip.

Up the road in Juno we’ve started going to a mostly outdoor restaurant called Guanabana’s. It’s down the road a little from Jetty’s, which had been a TUG favorite, but fell out of favor with us because service/food declined.
Guananbana’s is located along the Indian river and is a funky little place that has some decent fish and a really good cup of coffee.

We’ve been going to this resort yearly since 2001, so we mostly hang out at the resort and enjoy the beach. We use to go over to The Breakers and have a drink at the Seafood Bar. Expensive but a bar that’s a salt water aquarium was always a fun evening.

The tour of the Flagler mansion on Palm Beach Island was a fun afternoon.

Appreciate your feedback and accept your concern. I should not and will not recommend crumb feeding for the fish. They do sell fish food you can feed the fish in the store at the marina... I assume that is ok..?

Another great opportunity is at Palm Beach Shores (pink resort about 3 resorts down from Ocean Pointe). They have a good performance there on Thur and Fri nights. Its Motown songs, if you like that music. The performer has been performing there for a very long time. It is in the restaurant there and the food is decent and reasonably priced. My wife really enjoyed going there for a little dancing. It is mostly a older crowd since Motown was so long ago.

Yes

The “kids” may enjoy Clematis at night with the restaurants and bars. It has been very hot and humid so Lion Country Safari may not be a good choice. Shopping - outlet mall which is outside or Wellington Mall or Gardens Mall. Restaurant choices given are good. Snorkeling at Phil Foster has been good but go at high tide. My kids enjoy paddle boarding at McArthur. Definitely get a grouper dog at Sailfish but we skip the restaurant. Again it has been very hot and humid…. Rain in the afternoon, typical summer south Florida

I second Guanabanas. I would also include U-Tiki, next to Jetty’s. In downtown WPB, Rocco tacos and further south, Havana, which has very good Cuban food, sure beats driving down to Miami. Lastly, a good breakfast place further south in Lake Worth is Benny’s on the Beach located on the Lake Worth pier. Enjoy

Guanabanas is great. We also kayaked at the state park and enjoyed it. We also took the ferry to peanut island and also enjoyed it. We went fishing on the other side of the bridge. It was a group charter which was fun. We caught and later ate red snapper. If you have a boaters license or the funds for a private charter even better. The kids may like Clematis street. A little further down is DelRay which has an active night scene. We ate at Elisabetta’s in Delray which was amazing. They have another location on West Palm Beach. When I am in that area I try to find room for Sloan’s Ice Cream which are in multiple locations.

We discovered Guanabanas in Jupiter last year and loved it. GO EARLY IT IS VERY POPULAR. Sailfish Marina is walkable and pricey but a nice experience and good food. Johnny Longboats is also walkable but is more of a tourist trap in my opinion - nothing special.

Close to Guanabanas in Jupiter is Utiki - which has good food and you sit outside on a really nice covered deck. They have a boat ride you can schedule which is only 10 bucks each and the restuarant will work around that so we usually do that. Google U-tiki beach if interested.

Out favorite (closer) is Captain Charlies Reef Grill. Locals go there and we actually enjoy lunch there often.

On another note we always go to the LoggerHead Marine center in Juno and see the turtles. A really cool operation.

Have fun! It is one of our favorite places and we go every year.
