We traded my Mom's Ocean Pointe unit through Interval and got another week at Ocean Pointe. We got a call from the concierge to let us know that our unit did not have a typical two bedroom floor plan. The guest room had two twin beds. Having stayed at Ocean Pointe many times, the guest room normally has the two double/queen beds. This isn't a problem with us this time, but was wondering whether this might be the two bedroom side of a 3 bedroom unit? The front desk confirmed the room did have this set up - but as usual, they give you no further information about the room.

Just wondering if anyone knew whether these two bedroom units with single beds are part of a 3 bedroom floor plan, or whether some rooms just have that configuration?

Thanks!

Lucky you. That is the two bedroom side of a 3 bedroom villa. OCEAN FRONT!

Yes, the only units that have twin beds are the 3BR units. The 2BR portion of the 3BR will be smaller with a lower sleeping capacity than the standard 2BR lock-off.

While it might be nice that it is Ocean Front, Ocean Front at Ocean Pointe does not always mean an actual Ocean View. Floors 1 & 2 of the four main buildings will have no ocean view at all while floor 3 will be partial. Only floors 4 thru 7 are high enough to have a view that clears the trees and bushes.

You have an edge if you are an actual Ocean Pointe owner of record when you place your location request.

If you want the best chance at a high floor you will want to include all four main buildings. There are only 28 possible units of your type but this is divided between four check-in days. On average there will only be 7 possible units that you can be placed into. If you were to choose only a specific building it is possible that there is only one unit available in that building for your check-in day. That one unit might be on the 1st floor.

I was a fan of OF when I was a multi-week Ocean Pointe owner but for exchanging I actually prefer Ocean Side. The chances of getting a high OF floor without owner priority can be slim while getting an OS floor 5-7 with other Marriott owner priority is not out of reach. The built the main buildings so that each unit further back from OF sticks out, providing decent ocean view. The corner units on the intercoastal side are actually great view units giving both ocean view and direct intercoastal view.

This is a side note but there was a poster not too long ago that had the same type of II exchange as your but Ocean Pointe switched it and placed them in a standard 2BR OS unit. Ocean Pointe will definitely switch OF exchangers to OS if they so choose but they are not supposed to change the bed configuration. They probably though it was ok since they were moving to a higher capacity unit but a family might prefer to have the twin bed configuration for younger children due to the rooms being closer together.
