TALKING TIME-SHARES; BROKERS CREATING A MARKET

By ANDREE BROOKS
Published: December 16, 1984

I tried to copy from the article. Some of it is relevant... Other info, well... I suspect that is the case with lots of articles on timeshares, though.

And, yes, wouldn't we all like for our TS what we could have gotten even at he beginning of the year. (Assuming resale to resale purchases. Not developer, which is what I assume they mean in the article...which I only skimmed.)

Garnet, (This is only valid for PC, NOT MAC, sorry)

Highlight the parts you want to post from the original article. Then 'Ctrl' + 'C'. That will copy the highlighted stuff.

Then open up the TUG posting site, click inside the box and then 'Ctrl' + 'V'. That will Paste the copied stuff.

Good luck! I hope that helps cuz we didn't get your copied stuff from 1984... which I can't wait to read! And, Yes, The year does say it all!

Works on a MAC too. This is pasted from the article:

A GRADUAL increase in owners eager to sell their time-shares interest in resorts has precipitated the development of services geared specifically to this market. These new services can also afford a way to buy time-shares at a more favorable rate than buying directly from the developer.

T hank you. I did this. The only part I deleted was the >>>>>""""""" stuff. What I was referring to was at the top. The "PUBLISHED: DECEMBER 16, 1984" (I added capital letters this time.) Was this a republished article? Maybe there is something I am missing?

Oh Crap!!!!

I've been had by my own ignorance!

Now I get it! Jeez... I really got railroaded by myself on this one.

OK, so the original date of the article I posted was December 16, 1984.

For some reason, which still is weird to me, it was reposted by the NYTimes on this (late) date, December 31, 2008.

Sorry for the confusion! The statements made in 2004 seem much more realistic and believable that had they been made tonight.

Oopps! Sorry everyone!!!

Old Articles Reposted with Current Date

I have noticed that online editions of newspapers have old articles reposted with the current date. The old articles have the old date posted somewhere in small print; however, the current date is prominently displayed which would lead one to think that the information contained is current. I have noticed this as I have googled for old information and found it in what appears to be a new, current edition of the newspaper.
