How hard is it if you own a non NYC HGVC property to get into a NYC 57th st. or any NYC property for 3 nights with your points? Not during Thanksgiving or Christmas?

Pretty easy. We have booked W57th and the Quin many times and we don't own in the Hilton Club. Just log in and book it. They have a shorter booking window though. Another route is to use RCI. You can book further out and use less points but you need to be flexible about dates.

WOW Thank you, I don't own yet, but will hopefully soon. We are also very flexible.

And the reservation fee is higher with RCI than HGVC.

I search frequently for New York City in RCI, and there is always something available. As mentioned, it is just the dates that are the issue.

For the MF cost of my Elara points, the lower points but more fees is about a wash in total costs at W57th. But I almost never want a Studio+ there, so it usually won’t work for me.

But, depending on the reservation, the savings in points more than offsets the reservation cost

You can get a week at W57th for 3000 and some points... Way less than in HGVC.

That's a great deal! Do their studios have a Kitchenette or is it a regular hotel room?

Mini fridge, Kurig machine, and you can request a microwave, but that’s it. Not even what I’d call a kitchenette.

yes if you are willing:

- to stay a week (not a few days)
- especially in off season
- only need a studio

RCI can be great value for NYC even for NYC owners.

otherwise your regular HGVC points are a good deal, but you may not get exactly what you want when you want or may have to spring for a bigger room

You don't have to pick a week. It defaulted to that and I just left it.

HCNY is available also, same 3 through 21 nights but studios, 1 bed, and 2 bed

and The Central on 5th. 3 to 21 nights but studios

does that mean "3, 4, 7, 14, 21" nights?

or does that mean "3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,....20, 21" nights?

You are using HGVC points trading in RCI? It's cheap compared to RCI points exchange. Do you pay exchange fee of 299?

See below for the same 7-night period in RCI points - 69,500 (roughly worth $695).

Depends on the cost of your MF/points. If I use my Elara HGVC points, the 7 night stay is ~$710 total, which is the point cost based on MF/point + the $299 exchange fee.

Yes, HGVC points. You go into RCI directly from the HGVC portal and then you see your HGVC points in RCI. When you book, it pulls directly from HGVC. Then you pay the exchange fee.

The point amounts for booking are specific to HGVC and aligned to their value so that is why your see a point difference from other versions of RCI.

I am curious are you able to trade your HGVC points into Hawaii such as Bay Club and Kings' land? are there any savings booking that way?
Those you book directly via the HGVC portal. If you booked them via RCI, then you are paying that higher booking fee and you would be seen as a non-owner versus an owner in HGV.

I can check though. I haven't looked at HGVC properties. The advantage for the by Hilton Club properties is less points and booking out further. The bHC properties have a shorter booking window for non-bHC owners.

I am not sure about this (although it is based on what I recall here, and not what I've done). Some folks have reported booking bHC resorts in NYC (W. 57th, IIRC) via RCI and still being treated as owners. The caveat here is that they actually owned at W. 57th. But, if they are treated as W. 57th owners, perhaps general HGV folks are still recognized as such, although it confers no real benefit, AFAIK, if not an owner at the actual bHC resort.

Others who have actually done this may want to chime in as my account is second-hand.

Cheers.

I do think owners have shown up and told them that they are owners and maybe they went with it to allow lounge access but not sure how they would know otherwise. You would come in as an RCI booking like every other RCI booking. For example, if you look at the fee section for The District, it says that there may me a housekeeping fee but there aren't for owners.

For Tuscany Village is says there is a mandatory daily resort fee:

Just looked online Kings land is in there but no availability, which is a common way many of the Diamond properties are. There are in the system but the availability is blocked to prevent a Max work around.

There are other HGVC properties though, like Tuscany Village, but it says there is daily resort fee (this is the same fee that you pay if you book via Hilton for cash or HH points)

Interestingly, it is less points than in HGVC. A 1 bed tuscany Sunday to Sunday during platinum season is 7680 points but it is 5440 in RCI..but you pay the exchange fee and the daily resort fee.

A 2 bed week is 7680 but would be 11,200 in HGVC....so point savings may be worth booking via RCI and paying the exchange fee and the daily resort fee. You would need to do the math on the MF/pt costs.
