Number of Marriott points needed to book a week

My husband owned with Vistana, but didn't use the system much. Once we married, we have been pretty active using our 2 weeks. The Marriott purchase has completely messed with my head just as I was beginning to understand all the nuances of timeshare ownership. We ended up with purchasing more weeks (4 total now) and now have an astronomical maintenance fee. I am vetting electing VSP to the MarriottVC points for 2026 but want to know if this is the only way to "rent" my weeks AND what the weeks are likely worth. If I have 5000 points, will that get me 4-5 weeks at Marriott properties? Trying to understand if converting to MVC points = what I own at Vistana. We travel off season (Jan, early November to Florida now)
Thanks so much for any help

That amount of points can get several weeks in Abound- IF you book less popular weeks and/or less popular resorts, especiallyin smallerunit sizes. For some resort/season/unit size combinations it won't even get one week.

If you don't want to go the Abound route, there is always exchanging via II or booking weeks at your home resorts and renting them out for cash.

You likely could rent your points for anywhere between 70 cents per point and 80 cents per point.

As @sponger76 has said, you could book juicy time with your points (I.e. week 7 or week 52) and rent those weeks out for someone to occupy.

Renting points has less risk than renting actual time.

All the above is assuming you have purchased weeks thru Marriott that are eligible to be converted to points.
