I went by the beach....

My question is.....
Are all the people who live in tent, are they homeless or just people who live in Oahu who is camping there temporary?

It looks really BAD!

Read about Roberts of Hawaii donating big worn out buses to homeless after converting them to sleep 8 I believe.

The homeless have to live somewhere.

Not homeless in Makaha

It kind of looks like a bunch of homeless people squating at the beaches but if you go down to the beach you will see most of these people are camping and fishing with their families. The shore fishing in this strech is fantastic. You will find guys with multiple $600.00 rod set ups and nice trucks hanging out with family and friends just having a good time. One of the families we met told me that on monday morning you will be able to tell the homeless and the crack heads from the rest of them. The homeless are not that many and most have jobs and dont stay homeless forever. The people abusing drugs get run out of the parks and have to keep moving on. They are usally camped outside the parks where the park ranger cant mess with them.

The fish get up to 140 pounds and the bait is in the tide pools. I broke two cheap rods fishing Yokohama Bay. The sunset here is great. Mostly locals out there at the end of the road.

Maybe Not in Makaha but as I was driving along after Marriott TS, I saw tents that looks really old and worned out. Some had old tires by the cars that looks like that never moved in 5 years. Rusts with flat tires.
I know Homeless needs to live somewhere but I think they are the ones who will cause problem if you park your car close to the beach and try to enjoy public beach. I think they feel as tourists are invading their territory.
I am not sure if any have jobs but it doesn't look like they are thinking about moving out even after getting a job. They have perfect location by the beach that they don't need to pay taxes or rent.

I dont think I would go to any of these homeless camps after dark. The people we met were camping with friends and family and are from Oahu somewhere and were camped at state parks. The police and rangers were susposed to keep the drug afflicted out of the parks so these guys camp right next to the state parks probally to use the facillities.
