At every Marriott timeshare I've ever stayed in, a couple weeks prior to check-in I got an email from the resort asking me for villa preferences, regardless if it was at a resort I owned or one I traded into. I will be checking into Crystal Shores in less than 2 weeks (courtesy of an II trade) and I haven't gotten one of those emails yet. Does Crystal Shores send them? Maybe just to owners?

None of the Marriott properties are sending these out right now due to COVID. You may get an email in advance telling you about what is open and closed as well as changes they are making for COVID, but nothing asking for villa preferences. Realize you will be placed into the villa type that you reserved (cash or points) or that you exchanged into with II. Given that, you won't really have a lot of options on villa preference other than high or low floor. Since you are booked on an II exchange, you may want to check the unit code in My History that is associated with the week you confirmed into then compare it to this list. Realize that no view on an II exchange is guaranteed, but experience tells us that Crystal Shores keeps you in the villa confirmed via II.

We were just there a few weeks ago and it is a great resort.

At every Marriott timeshare I've ever stayed in, a couple weeks prior to check-in I got an email from the resort asking me for villa preferences...Does Crystal Shores send them?
It's been years since I've received a 'welcome' email from a MVC resort that explicitly asked me for villa preferences...not that it's stopped me from giving them.

In particular, the email we received from Crystal Shores for our February stay did not ask but my noting my preferences did result in an email exchange with someone at Crystal Shores and a very reasonable villa assignment for a Gulf Front DP reservation (desired stack, slightly below mid-building).

I think the most important requests would be high floor and split floor (bedroom on each end of villa) plan. If you have a Gulf Front confirmed, then you may want a corner or center unit. Corner units have the split floor plan and wrap around balconies. Center GF units have the bedrooms together.

I just stayed there a couple weeks ago. They called me about a week prior to confirm everything. I liked it so much I'm going back in about 12 days.

We got the same prior to our stay. Primary purpose, rope you into a sale presentation (we obliged), and they did note our villa preferences.

For our recent stay we got an informational email 3 days before our stay and 2 days out a specific email giving us more specific information including the room type and likely view to expect and I was able to respond to a specific person accordingly. The short lead time could have been due in part to the fact it was a retrade about a week out. Others have reported getting the email with view and pictures for Crystal Shores as well. For our July trip to GO we just got an informational email from the resort without the ability to interact.

For our recent stay at Newport, we received a phone call asking for our preference about 2 weeks prior to our stay. I wonder why COVID would preclude the standard email? Also did not receive a survey after our stay. I even saved a business card this time so that I could give a shout-out to the repairman who came to the villa. Past experience has made me wary of not stating my preference and I was getting ready to call but they beat me to the punch.

I just did a long weekend at Marriott Ocean Pointe with an AC. I was expecting the e-mail as well. I called them and put in a request. It was honored.
