Has anyone been to this resort of late? There is a family wedding scheduled in Guadalajara in August. A couple of the wedding guests (from the east coast) would like to tack on a PV vacation which prompted me to search some of the getaways on II. Any opinions? Thanks!

One of my timeshares is Vacation Internationale, and Vallarta Torre is one of their resorts. I rarely stay there because I use my V. I. points for Oregon and Washington vacations. Using other timeshares, I can easily trade into other Puerto Vallarta resorts. When I was In Puerto Vallarta last December, I did walk through the Vallarta Torre property. The resort looked good. However, if I am remembering correctly, the adjoining building to the south was or was being torn down. My only concern would be whether or not any construction would be going on in the immediate vicinity. You might want to call the resort directly to see if nearby construction would be a problem. I stayed at the Krystal a week in December. Between the Krystal and the block Vallarta Torre is on they are building a multi-tower, high-rise condo complex. I think it is called Icon or something like that. I didn't hear any construction while I stayed at The Krystal. Regarding Vallarta Torre, it is a smaller property. All of the units will have an ocean view, but I don't know how the view would be from the first floor units. If they want a mega resort, then they should look elsewhere. The resort is ocean front. It has a pool, a hot tub, a palapa bar, a restaurant, a mini store, and a beach. It should also have laundry facilities and a TV room. If you walk north on the cobblestone street in front of Vallarta Torre, you'll end up at the commercial marina--where the cruise ships come in. If you walk south, you'll hit The Krystal. Basically across the street from the resort is a Soriana grocery market--a relatively big grocery store. Soriana is on the main drag, and there is a bus stop in front of Soriana. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vallarta Torre. Vacation Internationale's site is www.viresorts.com Once on their site, you can click on their resorts and see a description and pictures of Vallarta Torre.

Thank you so much for all that info! That was extremely helpful. As long as the resort is in decent shape, I think it will be fine for them. I just wanted to make sure. Am definitely going to take your advice to call about the construction next year.

EJC - another question. I note that you own at Villa Del Mar - how is that property? That's another option.

Vallarta Torre is ocean front. Villa del Mar is not ocean front. It's in back of Villa del Palmar, which is ocean front. When staying at VDM, a person has access to all of the VDPM amenities. Even when I stay at VDPM, I frequently relax around the VDM pool because it is the "quiet pool" and there is a better chance of snagging a lounge chair. Vallarta Torre is a safer bet because all of the units have a view. With VDM, you'd see the pool, but that would be it. Even if you were able to reserve VDPM, some of those units are on the back of the building or, even worse, on the main drag. I stay at VDPM every year and thoroughly enjoy it, but I'm less than happy when they give me a unit with no view. I own there because as an owner, a person is more likely to get a unit with a better view. The staff at all three resorts is wonderful.

Thank you again! Decision made for VT!
