Marriott Desert Springs Villas II
I have a timeshare deposited with II that I need to use next summer. My plan is to combine with a visit with family in NW NJ.

My first choice would be The Suites at Hershey, but I fear an exchange may be difficult to snag.

What resort(s) would you recommend within a half day's driving distance? I"ll have young grandkids with me so kid friendly is important.

Suggestions?

Villa Roma in southern NY State has numerous activities for kids. Check out the II resorts in the Pocono area of Pennsylvania.

I suggest you check out Mountain Creek in Vernon/McAfee, NJ. That is in NW NJ.

The name of the time share is The Resort Club at Minerals Resort and Spa and Northeast Vacations Inc. at Minerals Resort and Spa: Interval International Codes, GGR and GG1.
There are also time share units at Minerals Hotel & Spa at Crystal Springs Interval Code SPS

Minerals is kid friendly. It has a very big outdoor swimming pool
Also a heated outdoor pool and a non heated indoor pool. Also a spa and st4eam room.
If your grandchildren are old enough, they can jump into the outdoor pool from a cliff that is between 10 to 15 feet high. Kids love that. The pool always has several lifeguards. The pool has an outdoor restaurant and bar. The hotel has an onsite restaurant (Kites).
There is also a spa and very good gym there.
I believe they have kids' activities at the complex.
You can go hiking to the top of the mountain.
There is a mountain top lake with canoeing and swimming that is part of the complex and that you can drive to.

Restaurant Latour is a few minutes away and is an upscale very good restaurant.
The Appalachian Trail runs through the area and it is a nice and not too difficult hike.
Vernon is less than 15 minutes Warwick, NY, which is a pretty town.
There are very good restaurants in Warwick.
Between Warwick and Greenwood Lake there are often concerts and fireworks on weekend nights.
There are a lot of farms here and you can pick your own fruit and vegetables.

You can go horseback riding across the road from Minerals.

Your grandchildren will love Mountain Creek Waterpark, which is a few minutes away. It has a big wave pool and some pretty good rides/activities.

Your grandchildren should really like Minerals. Your family should be very happy visiting you there.

The units that you get at the resort club are condominiums. The rooms are Meh but because the units are built on a mountain that is used for skiing and snowboarding, the views from the rooms are often excellent.

Minerals Hotels is a hotel room, so I don't think you would have enough room there.

If you want to travel a little further distance, you can drive to the Delaware Water Gap. (Mt. Tammany in NJ is a nice hike). Columbia, NJ has a wolf sanctuary that your grandchildren and you will enjoy.

My children and their friends loved coming here for skiing and during the summer.

I'll be depositing my summer Hershey week with II. If you want a specific week I can book it and can let you know when I deposit it in II. I deposit it when I have an AC offer.

Thanks for the info! Good stuff and as soon as my NJ family and I settle on possible travel dates I'll be submitting my request!

Marriott Fairway Villas is in Absecon outside Atlantic City.
Exit 49 on the Garden State Parkway.

Hello,
Sorry to rain on everybody's parade.

Seaport104: your week will probably not be seen by anyone looking to exchange, except for people with timeshares with a lot of trade power. That rules out any timeshares in Orlando, Poconos, Williamsburg, las vegas, atlantic city, etc, except maybe for the high season Marriott's and Vistanas. Your Hershey week will likely be snagged in IIs getaways program and far more than your maintenance fees. If you want MissRumphius to get your hershey week, I encourage you both to do a direct Exchange with each other, or to use RCI if that's even an option.

Bunk: you only mentioned the good things about the Minerals Resort & Spa, you did not mention anything bad and there is plenty bad about this resort. Below find a link to a relatively recent discussion. I personally second everything that was said in that post since I stayed at that resort recently myself.

MissRumphius: in my opinion unfortunately there are no reasonable options to exchange into using II for all of New Jersey, excluding Atlantic City. If driving from Atlantic City or the Poconos are an option then I will highly encourage you to look there. The Marriott in Atlantic City is really nice and if you can get it you will really enjoy your stay there.
Also if you can get a referral from owners of the Marriott in Atlantic City or at one of the resorts in the Poconos you might even be able to get a free reservation for 3 to 4 nights, but of course you'll need to attend a sales presentation.
