NICEST Wyndham Resort

Which one is it? If you had to pick one to visit which one are you going to and why?
Thats a very subjective question. I have enjoyed all the ones I've been to. Bonnet Creek is probably most popular from what I have heard. Stayed there once, was very nice. Daytonna is a bit run down, but can't beat the views off the balcony. Grand desert in Vegas is nice.

It's difficult to name just one. I like all resorts on an ocean or on the gulf with access to a beach. Those in the mountains are another favorite. And the metropolitan locations are on my favorite list too. It all depends on your overall interest and you interest at the moment.

Yeah, what does "nice" mean? We had an Oceanfront 2BR at Kauai Beach Villas last summer. The furnishings were dated, there was no central air, but the views off the balcony (and the sounds with the doors open for a cross-breeze) were fabulous.

Bently Brook in MA. They have the best Wyndham staff. They make us feel like family and at home. It's only a lil over 4 hours from home. It is isolated, laid back and relaxing.
They have an adult pool and a great gazebo hot tub.

Wyndham Newport Onshore is not the nicest with regard to furnishings, but the location is amazing and the staff is awesome. Also, there is no sales department there, so my stays there don't involve any unwanted phone calls or pressure. Pretty nice!

You are way over thinking this. Nice can be anything you want. The place you enjoy the most beyond other places you have been.

In the past 6 months I have stayed at Royal Sea Cliff, Sedona, Flagstaff, Austin, Nashville, Margaritaville Island Hotel, and La Cascada.

I had the Presidential units at the last two, and they are both either new (Austin) or newly renovated (La Cascada) and both were very nice units.

Royal Sea Cliff wins for ocean views, of course we had the Ocean FRONT room there, directly overlooking the pool and ocean. But Sedona wins for beautiful view PERIOD. Nashville is just a unit too, nice up no views. Margaritaville was an interesting exchange, immerse yourself in Jimmy Buffet for a few days. While the room was good, the views for Wyndham are NOT, but I enjoyed the theme of things. The unit I liked the least was Flagstaff. But it was nice, just nothing spectacular to move it up the rankings. No outstanding view nor outstanding room.

In general the Presidentials are nice rooms, and my preference if available. Anything with a good view is always appreciated, be it ocean, lake or mountain.

Bonnet Creek is a great resort. Panama City is another very nice one that I have stayed at.

"Nicest" is a very subjective term. My first thought was the nature of the resort and the accoutrements thereof. But that could land me in the 'swankiest' Wyndham in a location I have no desire to visit.

How about a rephrase of the question -- which location gives the most 'bang for the buck'. I would have to say New York City is up high on that list, when you compare to hotel room prices.

As for the biggest bang for the buck, Las Vegas if you win big in the casinos. Other than that, the Fairfield Resorts prior Wyndham. Those are cheap on points usage - stay longer on less points.

I totally assumed "nicest"to mean THE NICEST. Nothing to do with bang for your buck or views from balcony. I would think nicest building, decor, furniture etc. If that's the case although I haven't been to all the places I would say Bonnet Creek and I think many would agree.

Just sayin !

If that's the case I will have to say, Emerald Grande in Destin, FL.

In my opinion the buildings / furnishings are mostly all 'nice' and up to date with granite counters and good furnishings. So I think of 'nice' as having the better view or activities. So the ocean or lake view resorts like Panama City / Royal Seacliff / Shearwater / Sea Watch / Ocean Boulevard / Bonnet Creek come to mind. But the swankiness and things to do at Wyndham Grand Chicago is amazing too. Presidential Golf view at Great Smokies is really nice for both the view and the unit amenities.

If you asked my husband he would tell you that at a beach resort he wants a view of the water that you can at least see from a comfortable chair or the sofa in the living room. Even if it means he has to slide that chair over close to the door or window to have a view. A beautifully decorated and furnished unit would mean very little to him if the only view was of the parking lot or looking smack dab at the big building next to us instead of the water.

Last Spring we stayed at the Flagstaff resort in a two bedroom loft unit. The furniture was both attractive and comfortable. The unit was roomy and we enjoyed using the beautiful stone fireplace and the hot tub on our deck right off the master bedroom. And we had a gorgeous view of the mountains from the living room and deck. We were only there for five nights and I had a mild case of bronchitis the whole time we were there. Because I have asthma the bronchitis coupled with the higher elevation made it harder for me to breathe when I exerted myself so I wasn't able to do the sightseeing things we planned. I sent my husband out on his own to do a few of the things we planned and a few others we discovered after we got there. While he was gone I ensconced myself on the sofa with a blanket, a cup of tea, a good book, music playing, the fireplace going and that lovely view. The stay didn't go as planned but we both enjoyed the stay in Flagstaff!

I'm trying to remember if there are any other resorts we've stayed at that if I was under the weather I wouldn't be disappointed at having that much time in the unit. A number of resorts when they were renovated chose furniture that was attractive but not at all comfortable. One thing that changed after Fairfield became Wyndham was the little touches and flower arrangements disappeared. Without them the units felt cold and somewhat barren. Every once in a while we stay at a resort through RCI that still has these things and I am quick to notice what a difference they make.

We were in one of those same Flagstaff loft units a couple years ago in the dead of winter. One of the more unique units in the Wyndham system. After looking forward to that hot tub for months, once we got there is was sooo frigid cold we could not set foot out on that deck in spite of the fact that they had the hot tub nice and hot. Would love to get back there in the warm weather sometime.

We have been to Bonnet Creek, Myrtle Beach, Avenue Plaza, Riverside Suites, La Cascada, Wyndham Austin, Old Town Alexandria, National Harbor, Sedona, Durango, Flagstaff, Taos and Wyndham Shearwater. Of all those only Bonnet Creek would qualify as a “resort” in my book. The other locations were great, just not resorts. I have heard Majestic Sun and Emerald Grand are really nice, we would like to go to both of them. But so far only Bonnet Creek compares to our Hyatt’s and Marriott’s.

Great Smokies Lodge is pretty neat if you want an indoor and outdoor water park included. They also have golf course views.

Great thread. . .

For me, nicest (best) depends on my mood, expectation and vantage point:

1. Best treatment from the staff - Emerald Grande in Destin
2. Best resort amenities - Bonnet Creek
3. Best location metropolitan - NYC 45
4. Best beach - Royal Vista
5. Best water parks - Glacier Canyon
6. Best "legacy" resort - Star Island
7. Best sunsets - Clearwater
8. Best view of manta rays - Panama City Beach
9. Best "stop over" on my way home - Nashville

Yes, the rooms at Emerald Grande are just beautiful...I've always said that these rooms are the "nicest" that we've stayed in, however, we love so many of the other resorts for various reasons, too.
