I am researching for a possible trip next summer, and thought Lake Tahoe may be a fun destination. It would be me, DH and DDs 6 and 2. Are there resorts that have fun pools and kids activities? I see the Marriotts and they look nice, but I am guessing there are others?

The Marriotts are great. Walking distance to restaurants & casinos and they rooms are very nice. There's also the Lake Tahoe Vacation Club (formerly Embassy), it looks nice and on the beach ?

The Ridge Tahoe is wonderful as well and may be easier to get. While up on the mountain and a drive to restaurants and other activities, they have a much bigger and varied activity schedule, a nice pool, playground for the young ones, pool tables, their own movie theater, special staffed kids center for dropoff, a shuttle to the casinos, larger units, guided hikes right from the resort, and much more.

I called them once and they mailed me their current activity schedule (a whole book of things to do). While it will not be your week, it will practically identical to what they offer during your stay and will give you a good idea what is available for the kids.

Lake Tahoe is a wonderful place to visit and has so, so much to do you will love it!

Another vote for Ridge Tahoe. We were there a few years ago and some friends (along with their kids) joined us for a few days. The kids preferred to hang out at the resort rather than going down to the lake & town. Lot of things for them to do, even aside from the "organized activities".

The Ridge sounds very nice, sounds like there is plenty to do in the Lake Tahoe area which is always one of my concerns. We think we like "relaxation" and then we get bored! Thanks everyone!

We stayed at Ridge at Tahoe and absolutely loved our stay there. We have never been to a more quiet resort. We slept like dead people, it was so quiet and peaceful.

When I saw the resort in the dark, I was very disappointed to hear from the guard shack guy that our unit was on the first floor, but when we got to the unit, we opened the windows and saw lights down the mountain. We had a gorgeous view from atop the mountain. Every floor on that side of the building is a superb view.

The pool was great, they even had a movie theater. They also have a spa and great exercise area. There is an II rep at the resort to answer questions. The air smelled heavenly, like pine, just like our CO.:)

I 2nd both the Marriotts and Ridge Tahoe (RGT) .

We now own two weeks at the The Ridge Tahoe and have been going there for 15 years. We bought the Tower EOY while up for Memorial Day week.

They have two pools and plenty of things your kids would love! My wife loves the morning hike that starts 8-9 am into the mountains and then back for breakfast then facial, massage with Carol who has taken care of the wife the last three trips there. We messed up last trip and let our 19 year old daughter go to Carol for facial and massage and now she starts our trip by having me book her time too!:hysterical:

We own the Naegle which is only buildings 10-11-12 that are true two bedroom 1450 sq ft. They have rap around patios that you can use the grill and cook those steaks! Ridge also had dinner house (Hungry Bear which is open about four nights and has very good food and even though some complain about the prices its not over priced!

You can also drive part way down to casino area and have nice dinner at the Chart House. I have been eating since about 1969 when it was a hide-away where many of the entertainers playing the show rooms would eat before their shows!

The person working at our Deli at the Ridge told us he works nights at Wallys Resort about 15 min down the Carson City side of the hill so we went there for dinner and it was great! Open every night great selection of food and great wine list too! We will add this dinner to our plans along with the Chart House, Hungry Bear and of coarse one night having dinner on the paddle boat( Dixie Queen) trip around the lake!

Ridge is up the hill about 15 min drive from casinos which we love and you can drive down the hill to Carson City, Reno and a must is Virginia City if you love to visit the past.

The resorts like the Marriott's are really nice but spending a week that close to everything including the crowds gets old fast during the summer!

We stayed three nights at the Marriott while thinking of buying and by third night we returned and bought our Ridge back!

It seems there are many things to do around the Marriott and other local resorts and most will cost you money because its nothing but stores and the casinos wrapped around the whole area!

At the Ridge you can spend the day spending very little money even at the great deli for lunch!

You love the beach and lake then you could check out resorts on the North Shore side of the lake too!

Sunterra's EVR Lake Tahoe Resort is very nice as well and is currently expanding. Good location with fairly early walk to Nevada line. Right on the lake and close to Heavenly ski area also.

The Ridge Pointe Resort in Tahoe

I have booked a stay at the The Ridge Pointe in Tahoe (RGP) for Aug 2008 does anyone have an information on that resort?

Is RGP close to RGT? and does it have nice views as well?

When I look at Tahoe resorts on the Interval website, there are several Ridge Resorts. Also is The Ridge Point a Sunterra property, because it doesn't mention that on Interval's website, but it is listed on the Sunterra website.

Ridge

We own at the Naegle at The Ridge and have stayed at the Ridge Point as well. You can use the shuttle to get to The Ridge and then do the various activities, like the movie theater, put put, shuffle board, etc.

Have fun and check out Incline Village, my daughter attends Sierra Nevada college in that beautiful village.

:cheer:
