Does anyone have any recommendations for lodging in the Niagara on the Lake area of Canada ?

Also, what should I allow for time, going through customs from Canada to USA.

Thanks

Joe

Not sure of Niagara on the Lake but we stayed near the Rainbow Bridge at the
skyline Inn Very reasonable and close to Clifton Hill

And if you have a players card park at the casino. It is free!!!! otherise you pay about 12 a night at the hotel. cheap compard to others

Do not eat at the Perkins there!!! Expensive

We drove up to Lundy Lane and had breakfast at the Flying Saucer Very good, lots of food and cheap. Actually we were pigs!! 2 each sausage, bacon , ham , pancakes toast and i think homefries plus3 eggs for8.99pp

We were there mid July and it took about 1/2 hr to go thru customs at the RainbowBridge. I think the Peach Bridge looked longer.

If into wine, do not buy at Niagara on the Lake Purchase it at the dutyfree before you cross back to the USA.
We walked there the night before we left to check out prices, made our purchase and then picked it up at th drivethru on the way back to the States

We had some good ice cream at Niagara on the Lake. Had planned on eating at Old Angel Inn ......on the lake .........but after that breakfast couldnt do it :(

You can stay at Old Angel Inn also but I dont know anything about the place since we were not there

I believe OP have mentioned it.

Maybe moderator can move this to the Canada Forum

Pillar and Post is nice and right on the main street. You could stay at the Angel Inn, it has about 10-15 rooms. rumor has it its haunted. It still has a few of the original timbers that didn't completely burn during the time the Americans burned the town down during the Revolution. If you don't stay there you must have lunch. There are also a lot of B & B in town. Stay away from the tackiness of Niagara Falls. Crossing times vary, but generally the Peace Bridge crossing is less time.

It's nice to stay near the falls tho and be able to walk there
Clifton Hill is a tourist trap, but you can still walk around

When we were there in July and drove by the Peace Bridge, the line looked longer. I had wanted to cross at the Rainbow Bridge since I knew the room was there.

The drive from the Peace Bridge is more scenic tho!!! We have been there a few times, so didnt matter where we crossed

And yes, next time there I plan on eating at
The Olde Angel Inn!!!

Another thing to keep in mind, is if you do go to the Falls parking is about 20.00. Years ago you were able to park along the Falls but all of that is wider roads, and more landscaping. You have to park in the lots.

Or get the players card (good for both casinos) park at the Old Casino and walk around the area!!!!!! Someone told me all you have to spend is 25.00 to activate the PC for the parking. Not sure about that. We havent used it for some time and all we did was swipe our card when pulling into the parking lot andthe gate opened. same on the way out

Victorian Villas is nice. There are bed and breakfasts on every street at Niagara on the Lake. Beautiful little town..wineries and theatre also. Loved it
