We have loved this resort in the past so pretty disappointed to read terrible reviews on Trip Advisor. Mostly related to quality of the rooms ( old, tired) and Not cleaned properly. What do you all think? especially someone who has visited very recently preferably. Also…..anyone know if the 4000 building has been updated?
Thanks guys

We were there last month and we really enjoyed it. We were in the 3700 building and we thought the room quality was great. Didn't seem like it was in need of an immediate refurb to us. We loved our stay there. Just stear clear of sales and enjoy your time. And beware the prices in the resort mini-market. o_O

Trip Advisor reviews are not very reliable IMHO. Everyone that writes one seems to have an axe to grind. Read the TUG reviews instead.

We spent Christmas at NCV for a week and thought the villa was fabulous, and the entire resort as well. Though I was disappointed in the service at the pool bar & restaurant.

They are renovating units, but I don’t think building 4000 has been updated yet. We were there last summer and love the resort. As others shared stay away from the sales team. They are notoriously bad.

We'll be there in September. Can't wait and I hope they invite us to a presentation!
The incentives are usually pretty good if you want to do it for entertainment. Have fun!

Stayed there in April, 1200 building. Very tired 2BR. Kitchen granite was fractured right of the sink - not a chip, a full thickness fracture. Carpet was threadbare just off the tile for the kitchen. Large space. Primary bedroom was large and comfortable. The light switches were curious - not intuitive locations.

The grounds were lovely. The main pool area was mobbed - one of the pools heaters had failed. For our entire stay.

Check in - we asked about happy hours. The very kind and seemingly helpful team member told us there was one at the main pool bar. He told us the time and indicated it was half off. When we went to the bar at the hour, asked about their happy hour, they looked at us with blank stares. We explained what the front desk had said - so they said they would decrease the cost of a drink by a dollar or two. I forget the specifics, because it was very different than what we had been told and we knew we would thus go elsewhere.

I'd go back if we were to get an excellent price to do so.

Interesting about the pool heater. We were there for a week for Christmas and both of the lower pools at the main pool area were closed because the heaters were broken.

We were there the first week of June. High temp was 70--typical June Gloom--and we were delighted 'cause we live in Phoenix where it'll be 112* today.
Rooms did seem old and tired. We visited when it first opened and it seems downgraded since then.
We went to a sales presentation, no high pressure when we said we bought resale, and got $300. It's not often that we earn $300 for an hour of our time!

Was it downgraded or just worn down?

Being a massive resort with almost 700 units I imagine they work in a continuous refurbishment cycle where they just do XXX number of villas each year and then start all over again at the beginning. So certain units are always going to show more wear and tear than others.

Rooms were renovated in many of the buildings in the past 2-3 years. We toured (owner update) one of these new ones in 2020 (iirc) and actually stayed in one of them in 2023.

The renovated rooms are very nice with a much more modern feel! Give it some time - it's a huge resort. They won't get it all done immediately, but it seems on the right track...

Do they all not look like that? We have had those furnishing for years at NCV. I hope they are all remodeled like that by now. I was assuming they all were, but perhaps not. In the spring we noticed they were remodeling the 2700 building. Maybe it was one of the last ones???

We stayed in the 2100 building at Christmas and it looked like that.

We, too, have stayed in the 2100, and also the 3600, and the 2400 buildings and they have looked like that. In fact, I thought the 3600 and 2400s would be ready for a renovation soon, as they are supposed to update them every five years, and it seems like they have been looking like this for quite a few years.…in fact, I just looked and I have pictures of us in the unit that is remodeled like the pictures above from August 2018.…this was in either the 3600 or 2400 unit. It does look like the chairs are a little bit different, but otherwise, it’s the same.

We were in the same building in 2020 and it had the older furniture, but saw this new look and feel during an owner update at the time. By 2023 it was remodeled. We go there every 2-3 years so it's hard for me to say how the remodel has progressed over time. Based on the "old and tired" comment in post #9, I suspect it's not yet fully done because the new look does not feel old and tired at all. We're looking forward to going back next year.
