... is me! Just wanted to give a big "Mahalo" to Remy who gave me some great advice regarding the overall system at Valdoro. I ended up with an annual 3BR with summer float. Now what to do with all of these extra points??

As you can see, I'm celebrating by finally posting after lurking about this site for some time now.

Congrats. I'm sure you'll have fun.

Consider sticking around to give back some of what you got?
Maybe consider morphing from a "Guest" to a "Member?"

Valdoro is a wonderful resort. We love the 2 bdr plus units that have a hot tub and BBQ right on your deck.

Yes, I've always enjoyed reading up on the information at this site, hopefully, I can become "expert" enough to give advice as well.

I also have been checking at the marketplace for exchanges as well. Is that the right place to go to list/find other members who want to do a straight-up exchange? Or is the classifieds the place to go? Or is that one in the same?

The same place.
In the "Marketplace," are listings for private exchanges, for rent, and for wishes.

Glad I could help, I hope you enjoy your ownership! I'm making the drive out there tomorrow to get in one last boarding trip. It looks like we might be blessed with some fresh powder mid-week.

So get this... after going through this whole process (first inquiry was in November), email exchanges galore, confirmations, faxes, etc, I come to find out my fixed New Year's week is actually a winter float week (confirmed by HGVC)

When I asked the realtor about this, she said it was a deeded week one and not a fixed week one. Funny, all the email exchanges we had had been for a fixed week one, but now she insists it was for a deeded one. When I sent her a cut and paste of her listings I had made back in Nov, which showed a fixed week one, she countered by sending me a listing which showed "week one" but also says "float". Never mind that the float part could have been for the summer week...

I'm not complaining, I actually prefer a float week, but just the fact that the unit was misrepresented and the realtor seemed to get a little defensive when I asked about the mistake gets under my skin.

Week 1? Isn't week 52 a New Years week?

You could be right on that... I've always been used to HGVC's reserve anytime system so this "fixed" week stuff is relatively new to me. The listing and all communication between the realtor and I was for Week 1, however.

The float week works better for me so it's a moot point anyway, just amazed at the response I got when I pointed out their mistake.

A winter float can be a better option. Make sure you set your calendar alert to go in and book since you will only be competing against the float owners for availability. Fixed week owners have their weeks booked automatically at 15 months out so there isn't as much inventory to book for a specific week with the booking advantage.

I personally wouldn't be too interested in Week 52 or Week 1, but some people like the holiday scheduling over the weather and lines.

Valdoro is a curious property in that it has so many variables in the original sales. Fixed weeks, floating weeks, biennial weeks, weeks with an additional summer float, etc. On top of that the billing for MF is awkward leading many owners to have no clue what their actual annual MF is.

Here is another one. Some owners who own fixed week 52 have in their contracts that they get week 53 (whenever it comes) for free (not even maintenance fees).
