I know what it means to "retro" weeks purchased resale...but can anyone tell me what "retro" is short for?

I'm going to an "Owners Update" (HA!) soon, anticipate being offered/asking about retro'ing my newly purchased WSJ weeks, and would prefer not to sound like a complete idiot. TIA.

I believe it's supposed to be short for retroactively qualify, which technically would be an incorrect term, since you are re-qualifying the resale as a developer purchase, but it isn't retroactive to some data in the past.

I think the better term to use at a sales presentation is "requalify". That seems to be the term that sales uses to describe the process.

SOLD (DVC, FSRC)
Attended a sales presentation today for existing Vistana owners at Westin Nanea for 40,000 Bonvoy points.

Their Warning (scare tactics):
There will be little to no availability at the Maui Westin resorts via StarOptions because long time Maui owners are trading in their weeks to Abound to take advantage of all the Club Point options (96+ resorts, cruises, tours, hotel stays, etc). ;)

Their focus (don't miss your limited opportunity)
To help me authorize two resale Vistana weeks (that were not grandfathered) so I can use Club Points for future stays at the Westin resorts in Maui. :ROFLMAO:

Current choices :
  • Buy Westin Nanea (offering fixed week /fixed units available for the top two floors)
  • Buy Westin Flex (minimum spend $15k to authorize two weeks which is cheaper than Abound Club points minimum spend).

Their pitch (need to keep up with the Jones)
Join the other owners who are already taking advantage of all the different travel options available via Abound. ;)
  • Gain Higher Abound and Bonvoy Status
  • Book Vistana resorts at 12 months via Abound Club Points instead of waiting at the 8 month mark via Vistana StarOptions
